At Our Core: FonCore™

FonCore serves as the operating system for Fonality’s communication systems, Fonality PBXtra and trixbox Pro. FonCore is the core technology that gives our systems an edge. It’s also what makes PBXtra and trixbox Pro cost 40-80% less than the competition.

FonCore is built on a time-tested and widely distributed open source call control platform with significant reliability and stability improvements plus feature enhancements. Fonality has extended and modified the core open source code to decrease internal structure lock contention, improve database handling, and decrease crash scenarios. Combined with our web-based Admin Panel applications and proprietary HUD desktop application, we’ve created a stable telephony platform that’s both feature-rich and user-friendly.

The Power of Open Source

At Fonality, we’re strong believers in the power of open source. However, we’re also aware of its risks and downsides. That’s why we offer a range of solutions, from our fully flexible and extensible open source project trixbox CE to FonCore-based Fonality trixbox Pro and Fonality PBXtra.

In developing FonCore, Fonality kept the best bits of the open source software and left out the troublesome ones. Along the way, we solved many of the stability and scalability problems that have plagued open source phone systems for years. And while we were at it, we added some features you won’t find anywhere else, including our HUD and Anywhere Management applications.
