T.38 Faxing

Ok I've been playing and mucking with this for weeks on/off. I can't seem to get faxes working outbound through a SIP trunk that is supposed to support T.38, dialing through a SPA2102 ATA it (the ATA) detects the fax tone, I start to heard the handshake, then the call disconnects. I'm wondering if Asterisk isn't switching over to T.38 when it sees the tone. I'm also wondering if I can somehow terminate them at our DAHDI interface? We currently have four FXS ports to our Nortel PBX but I could easily add a FXO onto our fax line if needed.

Good luck with that. Just

Good luck with that. Just because a trunk supports t.38 doesnt mean faxing is going to work. The problem is that there are simply too many variables to be working with for reliable faxing through Asterisk. The only solution I have found that always works is Faxxbochs.

beta2K - were you able to resolve the issue? You might also try searching for a solution at the Cisco Small Business community or post your question there - https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/small-business/v...

I'm with Kerry...

on this one. I've run into issues with T38 not being supported by SIP providers to routers not processing T38 correctly.

I've had the best luck with G711u as the codec, and on the Linksys I configure the primary codec to be 711 and only use the primary.
