authtype=database won't allow log in

If I change that to database, I cannot login to FreePBX. I am running 2.2.9 of trixbox, yes I know it is old but this is what was handed to me. Anyway, I have checked the *.conf files and all users and passwords match. With authtype set to none, I have looked at the database and tried using ampusers listed there. Still no go, the login window keeps appearing. If I have a screen open in freepbx and then change to database then amportal restart, I can still navigate in freepbx and I see logged in as user x on the right. If I log out then try to log back in, I can't.

Any clues?

Re: authtype=database won't allow log in

If your database exists, use your favorite access program and open the database. Create the users you are trying to log in with (maint, admin, newbie, etc.) by adding records in the database with the correct credentials. Restart asterisk (just for grins) and try again. You should be able to get in just fine.

tried with existing users there

I opened the database and looked at users already there. Tried using those and didn't work.

Re: tried with existing users there

You opened the ampusers database, added the users, added the passwords, and made sure the sections were set to '*' and you still can't access AMP? That was all I needed to do to solve this problem when I had it last month.

The other possibility is that you aren't using the right username/password/hostname combo to open the database. Check your /var/log/asterisk/full log file and make sure you are getting logged into the database correctly.

Also, you might be bumping into some kind of browser unhappiness. Include a restart of your browser just to make sure there isn't some weird cache thing going on.

acl?

Ok. looking at the log full. Is there an acl or permit/deny somewhere in one of the .conf files? This is what I found in the log (with IP addresses changed except last two in the publics to retain relevance). That is the only thing I really see reference login when I change to =database. I didn't add any users manually, the two that I tried where already in the mysql asterisk ampuser table.

Thanks James. I see it is for a later version than what I have but I think I will give it a try.

1.) If you are doing this to allow access to the box from the net
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
STOP
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

TB nor Freepbx is designed for that, you will be HACKED no if ands or butts.

the freepbx site is where you go for this, the docs on the site are top notch.
TB on the other hand does it best to confuse folks, the trixbox.conf file needed to be edited to remove the folder permisson blocks.

Thank's bubbapcguy but...

The doc on the FreePBX is a cut and paste of the Rhino support site... Of course the result is the same!

http://www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/howtos/how-to-using-...

What do we do now ?
