Can install Trix Pro but can't do anything with it afterwards

Hi, we are trying to install our first trixbox pro today and it cannot contact vpn1 to activate itself. This is preventing us from logging in and configuring our machine!
We can receive updates (which happened during post install) but when we try to log into http://cp.trixbox.com we get a server cannot be reached. What is going on?
If we cannot connect to the web portal is there another way for us to activate our machine so that we can login and start using it?
Here is what we see when we try to start vtund:
Stopping Vtund: (Failed)
Starting Vtund (vpn1.trixbox.com) Vtund [4304] No hosts defined (Failed)
We can resolve vpn1.trixbox.com in DNS to the appropriate address (as found on the message boards)....

Correction, we can't resolve

Correction, we can't resolve DNS from our trixbox when we login as ip/ip.
