Directed pickup not working for me

I'm using Polycom 501 phones and have not been able to use the built-in call pickup or the directed call pickup. *8 gives a reorder tone and **extenstion gives an error that the feature is not available on this line. I tried to change the dial code for directed pickup from ** to *81 to make sure it wasn't something phone related but that didn't change anything.

Hopefully fixed in asterisk

Hopefully fixed in asterisk 1.4.18 which according to Kerry should be in repo today.

call parking too?

I downgraded to get call parking to work, should I expect it to continue working if I upgrade?

Upgraded to 1.4.18 last

Upgraded to 1.4.18 last night. Parking lot works but same issue with call pickup. It works if I dial internally but trying to pick a call coming over SIP trunk, no go. I guess *8 is a solution, works well.

did you try to change in freepbx?

my call pick-up is working in 2.4.0.2 yummed up to current as of a week ago.

I changed the feature in "feature codes" in freepbx from ** for grandstream to *8

additonally did you configure your callgroup and pickup group for those phones under extension in freepbx.

just a thought and dont know if it will fix your problem

I did configure call group

I did configure call group and pickup group and it works fine (*8) to pick group. Problem is "direct extension" pickup **xxx "feature is unavailable". If you changed call pickup to *8, all you are doing is group pickup. Are you saying that after changing ** to *8 you are able to pick a call directed to an extension (*8xxx)?

Both were broken on previous version

I have no directed pickup with any version but the *8 group pickup works fine and is closer to what the customer wanted in the first place.

how will you know which extension to pick up anyway???

Given that i run over 60 extensions on my trixbox, I cant imagine trying to figure out which extension number is ringing and then pickup on a specific number by dialing *8XXXX. Wouldn't dialing *8 for a local group pickup make more sense?

If you hear it ringing, you pick it up on group... what advantage is there of dialing a specific extension number to pick up? Forgive my ignorance, but this seems like it is going into the direction of SLA discussion to try to do something that makes no sense with the direction that asterisk, trixbox and many and/or most of the smb pbx developments are leaning.
