I'm in the process of "going live",,:-) with my trixbox in my humble little surroundings here and still trying to figure out all the ins and outs? OK, When being called either by another softphone on my Lan or externally by a hardphone outside of my lan wouldnt i be right in saying i would * prefer* to always see 200@domainname.net rather than 200@publicipaddress or 200@internalipaddress? I have tried so many different combinations of checking "outbound proxy" setting, stun server ,etc, both on X Lite and in FreePBX,and by doing each change I have noticed different info when being dialed into from either a softphone,or outside hardphone.
I have all the dns server stuff setup on my primary linux server that has entries there for my TB server to the public IP.
I have entered the
externip=WAN IP address
localnet=192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 (or whatever your private LAN is configured for)
and in doing this i end up seeing the public ipaddress which i would guess is OK, but i think to be uniform both internally and on the internet side i would always be wanting to see what my public domain name is.
I have finally gotten audio on both ends when calling in from outside my lan,but cannot call out at all.
Also, I use easydns so if my server would go offline and then come back on a day later i do end up with a different public IP address but I have setup ddclient on the server to make easydns see my new ip IF it were to change at each bootup.I m thinking if I get this domain name resolution figured out Ill be cookin with hot grease all the way around! Keeep scratching,,,:)
