Full scale backup restore system

Hello to all,

I have recently been tasked with maintaining a trixbox CE phone server. One of the items on the list of things todo is buy an identical machine without the FXO card and set it up as a full scale backup. If it was a windows machine I would simply ghost the partions over to the new machine an be done with it. What I would like is to have the trixbox do a backup of any changed files and voicemails to a 'middleman' server once a week so if the main crashes I can pull out the backup machine pop in the FXO card, run a restore from the 'middleman' server and be back up and running in short order.

I know this sounds like alot and I am very willing to test and try things as long as our current server is safe from corruption. Currently I have trixbox CE 2.6.2.2 ( the one with no backup module ) installed on raid mirrored dual 160G drives.

If anyone can offer advice or point me in the right direction I thank you in advance.

Image the existing server

Image the existing server using Acronis, install the trixbox backup module and have the system make an backup every X day's and send the backup to a ftp location.
Use the acronis image and restore it on the new server if you need to go live with the backup server just restore the backup and you are done.

You won't find it under modules

It is called tbm-backup, you will find it in the package manager.

I just got done doing this,

I just got done doing this, expect my boxes are different, matter of fact I'm working on the 3rd one now (dont ask).

Anyway get the second machine up and rolling, and just take the backup from the one old box and copy it over and do a restore.

I'm not sure because I dont have a FXO card but I would think you would need to do the install with that card in there. I know you dont want to take down the working server but you may want to be sure your backup box is going to work with the card before you find you you really need it.

Found it!

FYI to anyone trying to do the same thing I am. You need to go under settings-> Repositories and enable "trixbox Addons" to see the tbm-backup in the packages section!

Thanks to all!
