I am quite new to all of this, I read the post about downloading and installing VMware( I assume VMWARE for Windows). That seems easy, but when I go to step 2 and click on the link to download Trixbox there are three files to choose from, ext. are as follows : .iso, .gz, and a .txt, do i download the .gz or .iso.

I have already download and installed TRIXBOX on a new Emachine (Athlon 64, 3200+, 512M memory, 160g HD, dvd-cd burner, eth.) that I purchased, and so far I have 2 ext. working. If TRIXBOX runs well under vmware, I think I would like to go back to windows and run vmware. That way I can use the computer, surfing, music apps and as a printer server etc. on my network.

BTW, I will running XP Home that came with the computer, I assume it will have service pack II.

Thanks,

RD

Re: Help with Trixbox install on VMware

Download the ISO and create a new server in VMWare. Then mount the ISO as the CD-ROM in the VMWare server settings. This will permit it to boot the ISO.

Trixbox and Asterisk works well with VMWare as long as you DON'T use SMP kernel and you are not using hardware add-in cards. If you are using VoicePulse it will work fine.

This works well for burning ISO's in windows - does not muck with the ISO like Nero and others do, just burns the bits to the platter.
