How can we create Same Extension Numbers for Mulitple Companies

We need to configure TrixBox to support multiple companies - let's say Company A and Company B. Both the companies need Extensions 1000, 1001, 1002 etc.
How can we do this ?
Thanks

Seperate Trixboxes

Extensions on a box HAVE to be unique, however, you can setup a "Trunking Server" and then "Tennant Servers" so that the inbound and outbound lines are commonly available, but each Tennant box can have it's own address space.

But short of seperate boxes, there is no way to have one box with the same extensions for multiple groups.

This can be don verry easily

This can be don verry easily with asterisk, however trixbox isnt really set up for this. It is honestly as simple as context. you create a context business_a business_b then you can do whatever you want within those contexts.

thats true if you want to do

thats true
if you want to do it that way you would have to use the config edit to start creating extensions and voicemail access, making most of freepbx useless

linking

you could do it in such a way as to make a route to the other office by using an 8 prefix and route that through the IAX trunk. For example if you wish to ring the office B extension 101 from office A ext 101 dial 8|101 for example - any help.

independent companies / linking

In our setup, we need the companies to be completely independent. Hence extensions of Company A will not be dialing the extensions of Company B and vice versa. Howerver, each company can specify the same extension numbers.

Based on reading the above responses, the only way to accomplish this is to manually edit the asterisk config files - either in an editor or via FreePBx Config Edit.

OR U could

Or you could jump over to Freepbx and pay the money to have freepbx multi-tenant enabled.
Of course it will cost a few bucks and take some time, but in the long run you will get much out of the system

Ask Freepbx

that would be a question for Philippe Lindheimer - FreePBX Project Leader

I could guess at $ 20,000 ~ $ 30,000 grand.

Just head over to http://www.freepbx.org/forums/freepbx/development-0 post what you want and ask how much to have it done.

multi tennant

I have got a set of working asterisk multi tennant configs. They are in a very simple form but they do work. They include seperate conference rooms and interoffice short dial ringing for local extensions in the same office etc.etc. Please note these are for asterisk -NO FREEPBX -NO FOP just Pure Asterisk. If anybody would like a copy please PM me and I will happily forward these on and Time permitting offer some advice, if required, to tailoring these to your personal requirements.

Using 2 trixboxes and Dial Plans

I am using 2 boxes and dial plans. Prefix will take you to a different box.
Problem is you need to used Cid override for the 2nd box to not get confused on the extensions.
Guess I better do a better job explaing. box 1 1001 Sally Struthers
Box 2 1001 Joe Schmoe
Joe calls 555-1001 It will get confused at Box one and think it si Sally calling Sally. If you placed Outbound Cid of "Joe Schmoe" It will override cid of the local box and Sally will see it coming from Joe Schmoe and also have the proper call back number in her list.
Clear as mud? Hope not!

You could always virtualise

You could always virtualise the server and have 2 sepatae instamces of TN runninng, however, I understand that may have issues with FXO cards!

James:
In our case, we have not been able to justify the $20K-$30K amount that will be required to do this. This estimated figure is mentioned in this discussion thread.

i'm interested on the topic

i'm interested on the topic same local but different company. based on your comments, there are 2 possible option to do this. first, editing the config file in freepbx or second pay for the multi-tenant option. the amount you gave in enabling the multi-tenant mode is expensive, so i will stick to the first option. can somoene show some sample configs to do this job?

It is more than just editing

It is more than just editing the configs. To do true multi tenent you would need a custom written asterisk dial plan from scratch - NO FREEPBX/FOP etc.
Just curious here, why not run two boxes?

Ease of Use!

Sincerely, to make life easy for you and your clients on TB, either get them each their own TB or just use unique extension numbers with perhaps different first two numbers e.g. Company A starts with 10XX while Company B starts with 11XX or something far apart like 15XX to allow for the growth of both companies. Anything else will only give you extra headache and complicated call routing issues to even troubleshoot. This is like asking a phone company to provide the same phone number to two customers (since this is TB and not Asterisk). Let them know the available numbers and how unique they have to be, or else you may be doing more than you are paid to.

the 20-30k estimate may not

the 20-30k estimate may not be accurate you should contact freepbx they may have oit 90% written and a small donation might move it to the top of the todo list

Is it possible to do some redirect?

My idea is to create different extensions and then make ?some? rules to decide which extension to dial.

Example:
Company A needs two extension 22 , 33 -> make extension 122, 133
Compaby B needs two extension 22 , 33 -> make extension 222, 233

If I have extension 122 and I call 33 - it is possible to create some rule which add prefix 1 ?
