I need all your help. I need to know if my specs for my trixbox can handle more than 100 seats.
Motherboard: Intel DQ35mp
Processor: Intel Q9300 (2.5ghz) 1333FSB Core 2 Quad
Memory: Four - 2gb Kingston
Hard Drive: Two - 250gb Seagate SATA
Is it ok?
If i upgrade my trixbox pro to call center edition, do i need to have a licensed per seat?

I would say this should be good for 100 seats dependent on your network topology.

You should get a redundant server
And pro charges per seat because that's basically how they make money. Pro has a great call center system, probably better than CE, but the only issue I have is that you need to rely on Fonality's servers for your server to work. I used pro in a testing environment, and my phones were down twice, since Fonality's servers who hosted my phones, were not working. The sip registration on the phones were pointing to that xxxxx.fonality.com address
this should be great for 100 seats!!
My advice would be to try CE out. You've got nothing to loose. If you feel you need the additional features of Pro then you can always move at no cost.
As someone above said, Fonality's servers have been known to go down - the one thing that cracks any IT admin up is the fact that your system is down due to an outside fault! It just makes us feel so helpless!!!

you may want to check around and see if anyone has used that board on CentOS, it may be a little too cutting edge. 100 seats doesnt mean much - how many simultaneous calls is what you would need to consider, if they only have 50 calls going, a much smaller server would suffice. You would be much better off buying something like a dell 2950 with hot swap power supplies and all that - I think they are around $1600.
You can pick up a Rhino Ceros actually designed to run asterisk and well tested doing said task with a redundant power supply under 1200
there ya go - RHINO = good deal.
Yup also a 5 year warranty. And they use really good hardware.
With 100 seats have you started to think about the network?
Do you plan on using a voice VLAN or mixing your data traffic with voice?

what are you asking - about a server, a network, or what?
Are you a startup? is this an existing network? what kind of trunks? what kind of internet? any offsite users? are you a mortgage company;?
30 seats is simple - simple server/simple network, once you break the 60~80 margin - that takes a little more thought + lot more $$ - and this goes with any computer network - if you have a bunch of computers, they need to be networked right for things to work smooth. You cant just sling a bunch of devices together on a bunch of switches - this takes a lot of forethought, organization, and maintenance.
