Issue getting MondoRescue Installed

Hi all,

Sorry to have my first post as a request for help, but I have just been given responsibility of keeping a Trixbox working at my work and have been looking at this for hours.

I wish to create weekly and complete backups of a Trixbox system to CD and found through the internets MondoRescue is a good way to go about it. The only problem I seem to have is there are always conflicts with the packages when I install (which I am doing individually, in the recommended format by multpile articles).

The system I am working on is as follows:

Intel Celeron 2.26GHz

Trixbox v2.6.1.10 with Centos 5 from what I can tell
Has Shorewall installed

The error occurs after the following -

yum install cdrecord
rpm –ivh afio-2.4.7-1.i586.rpm
rpm –ivh buffer-1.19-1.i386.rpm
rpm –ivh mindi-busybox-1.2.2-2.rhel4.i586.rpm
rpm –ivh mindi-1.2.0-2.rhel4.i586.rpm
rpm –ivh mondo-2.2.0-2.rhel4.i586.rpm
Error: Failed dependencies:
libnewt.so.0.51 is needed by mondo-2.2.0-2.rhel4.i586

After getting that error, the logical thing I thought to do was look for that package, which I thought I found and tried to install. Installing that package (newt-0.51.4-1.i386.rpm) flags another dependency error of libslang-utf8.so.1 is needed by newt-0.51.4-1.i386 . There is no single package for this, and from what I have read it is a part of the "slang" packages. I do not wish to keep installing packages, if I do not know what they do 100%, as loosing this box takes out our phones.

I'm sure I've messed up something here, but I dont have a clue where at, so any assistance at this point would be awesome!

Thank you if you've read this far ;)

Has anyone got another idea

Has anyone got another idea on how to back up these boxes then? Any suggestions?

Not an attack on anyone here, but I have to say, Im getting rather disheartened by Linux overall... Community support never seems there when I run into issues on any of the distros I've worked with :(

Hell, if its something I've done or if I haven't posted enough information, *please* let me know.

It's not that somebody does

It's not that somebody does not want to help you, this forum supports trixbox not Mondo. If somebody happens to wander by that know the package they may choose to help. I would suggest Mondo's forum. Just treat it as a generic CentOS install.

Thanks for the response

Thanks for the response SkyKing - Is there another way to backup a trixbox that you might know of?

I still use a pre-forked

I still use a pre-forked version of FreePBX so the regular FreePBX backup module works fine. I can reload an image and the backup as fast as I can load a multi-gigabyte backup image.

You have to customize amportal.conf to set a remote FTP server but that's about it. If you are running the latest trix you can still grab the backup module from the FreePBX website and install with module admin in PBX Settings.

There is a beta version of the new trixbox backup module in the beta repo.
