New install using VMware package - can't update Trixbox or get to modules online

I am fairly new to Trixbox, but have been using an old Asterisk @ home in a test lab for a couple of years.

I downloaded the trixbox 2.6.1 vmware image onto my Workstation 6 system. I use it in VMware as it is for a IP only Lab setup where all the other endpoints are VM's on the same host machine

Anyway, Trixbox is up & i can make calls, but cannot use the Web GUI or Yum to update trixbox:

I found the wiki on fixing zaptel & tried it. It seemed to complete OK & rebooted as avised, but the yum update still gives the same error.
I have also tried cleanup (yum clean all) but still the same.

I also have an issue with Module Admin when selecting "check updates online" i get this error, so i cannot install the misc app module for custom endpoints (such as web meetme)

Warning: Cannot connect to online repository (update.trixbox.org). Online modules are not available.

I have checked that i can ping to the 'real world' from the command line & all seems OK

any help or pointers greatly appreciated :)

traceroute command not recognised

Kerry,

Good idea, i can ping to update.trixbox.org & i get a valid response

However, for some reason the Centos CLI does not like the traceroute command - it says command not found.

However if i do a traceroute from the VMware host i get:

why won't Centos allow traceroute??

oops - Novice Alert ;-)

Kerry,

Sorry about that, i didn't realise traceroute was not part of the base build, but a bit of Googling got me the info i needed to 'yum install' the traceroute package & this is the result:

traceroute to update.trixbox.org (66.234.135.92), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 192.168.56.2 (192.168.56.2) 0.078 ms 0.090 ms 0.078 ms
 2 lax-92.ha-hosting.com (66.234.135.92) 173.207 ms 175.042 ms 177.370 ms

so it looks like i can get to update.trixbox.org OK, & also yum can install the tracerout package, it just can't do updates & module admin can't show the on-line updates.

Alternatively, is there any way to manually download the 'misc applications' module & install it?

fix-zaptel output

I'm not sure if this will help, but i re-ran the fiz-zaptel shell script, so i could capture the output, it seems to complete OK, but i may be missing something important??

I noticed that during the update it responds

No package zaptel-modules-1*2.6.25.7 available.
Nothing to do

Does that mean that the update actually failed, despite the final line stating Zaptel problems resolved??

Here is the full output from the script:

You may need to upadte the rest of your packages using yum update.
You should reboot your system now.

1 out of 2 resolved

Kerry,

That's bizarre - i had rebooted the trixbox today & still couldn't get to modules online??

I restarted httpd as suggested & now i can get to modules - wierd

I then tried the yum update again & still get the error on zaptel dependancies, even after running the fix-zaptel script again

please help :-(

Cannot resolve dependencies !!! please help!!!

I have 2 trixboxes one is up and running and not able to connect to CentOS Base Packages among others. The other is not able to either and since I brought it up as a back up to the first I started from a clean install did a yum update and restore from back up on PBX ONLY. All seems to be working fine except not only can I not get CentOS Base Packages, I cannot add other modules because it is not able to resolve any dependencies that are in the CentOS Base Packages. Any ideas??

From what I have seen there seems to be a number of people with this same problem.

when you search under the error code:

Error: the XML response that was returned from the server is invalid.
Received:
Cannot write to file (cache/outputYumAvailList.txt)

which is what you get when you try to get the CentOS Base Pakages. When I select something that requires dependencies, just get a dependencies error.

I am running an updated 2.6.1.3 system with no known errors. I did already have to rummadge through the system changing out the old or standard passwords like amp111 and amp 109 and passw0rd. This was needed to resolve a bunch of other, by now, well known issues. Is there someone out there that can help address this head on with a simple try this: ....

I am sure I am not alone.

Thank you in advance,

Shawn

Zaptel missing from Packages

I am also having this issue. I have tried the zaptel fix but it does not resolve the issue.

I think the core of the issue is that somehow zaptel is missing from the package manager. I have 2 boxes one that I loaded from the ISO and the other is the vmware image that I downloaded. If you look in the package manager of the ISO you see the zaptel packages. if you look in the VMware download they are not there.

i am still new to this so I am not sure why the show up in on and not the other. I also tried updating the packages so they both show Package Version 2.6.1.3 yet in one the Zaptel packages show up yet they are missing from the other ?

Help ??

Dependency issue - please fix

I think this is a rpm dependency issue. The Zaptel 1.4.11 module is dependent on the 2.6.18-53 kernel. The build already includes a newer kernel 2.6.25.7-4.

I though the 2.6.16-53vm was the kernel that was optimized for vmware ?

November 2, still a problem

I am a totally green on Trixbox, having followed tips here and there I still have the Zaptel 1.4.11 is needed by package....

I'm running Trixbox VMware version on an ESXi server. Would installing trixbox CE 2.6.1.13 (Stable) solve the case, that the module is included in the kernel?

New install using VMware package - can't update Trixbox or get t

I had the same problem with the provided vmware image... install trixbox in vmware yourself from the iso and everything will work much better…
