Question about connection to SIP provider

Hello,

I have signed up with callcentric and have a DID with them. I use the DID to access DISA on my TrixBox system. Currently I have configures callcentric to send any calls on that DID to 8000@my.domain.com and I have set extension 8000 to go to DISA. It all works fine - I dial my callcentric number and I get the DISA announcement. Now my question is - is it better to forward or is it better to create a SIP trunk to CC and have the call come in via the SIP trunk? Quality wise which would be better or should there be no difference at all?

Thanks.

As far as call quality, I

As far as call quality, I would assume that as long as you configure the codecs correctly you would get the same call quality. When you accept calls on 8000@my.domain.com you set the codec, and when you setup the trunk to CC you can specify the codec. So, if you specify the same codec you should be able to achieve the same call quality.

Now, I am still fairly new to the VoIP world. So, if I am off please feel free to let me know.

Thank you,

Dustin

Here is the problem I am

Here is the problem I am seeing. I use DISA (Callcentric line) to call India using CallWithUs or Future-9 when I am away from my house using my cell phone. I find that calling India via DISA introduces too much delay and the two parties are constantly talking over each other and it is really annoying. I make the same call from home (no DISA) and the delay is much less. I wanted to know what I can do to minimize the delay while using DISA. The codec used while I call into my DISA number is uLaw and the codec used to CWU and F9 is also uLaw so there should be no delay introduced due to transcoding.

Any suggestions on how to reduce this delay would be appreciated. I guess I can set up a SIP trunk to Callcentric and see if the delay is any better.

Thanks.
