Sending an SMS from my Dial Plan - SMS Capability

Hi Guys,

Yet another challenge. I can only wish that the Future trixbox comes with an SMS Capability.

Here is what I am trying to do and I'd like to have suggestions,

I'd like to send an SMS OUT through my dial plan. These would be essentially cell phones based upon GSM or CDMA technology.

1. Has anyone been using such functionality? If yes, please advise. I have googled and come across different solutions. I am just looking for the best fit, anyone experienced on this forum can pour in some words of wisdom.

2. Is there any open source SMS solution. If yes, that'll be great. Although, I am ready to go for a commercial one also.

3. I'll prefer to have a very simple implementation. No complex requirements and functions needed. Just an SMS intimation is all what I need.

There are many solutions for this. which one you use is based on what you need it for. If you just want to send a few SMS messages you can use a script that emails the SMS gateway. If you want to send hundreds or thousands of messages you need to pay a provider that will give you a connection for Asterisk.

I won't need to send messages in bulk.

Nevertheless, I am still willing to pay a provider that can provide me with a quality service for SMS intimation.

Can you refer me to any good one ? I'll take it from there.
