Trixbox 2.6 with USB CD-ROM

I have been running Trixbox 2.2.3 on a Rhino box. I want to put 2.6 on the box. I purchased an external USB CD/DVD drive. I configured the BIOS to look for USB drives. I can get the installation started with this drive, but then it says "Unable to download the kickstart file. Please modify the kickstart parameter below or press Cancel to proceed as an interactive installation." The box below that says "cdrom:/ks.cfg".

Any ideas how I can get the installation to continue? The drive is an LG LightScribe drive that reads and writes cd's and dvd's.

Thanks,
JamesG

We just reproduced this here

We just reproduced this here with the same drive. When it pops up and asks where the kickstart is give it a 30 seconds to 1 minute then press enter at least here it worked. Looks like some USB devices are slower then anaconda...

I've tried waiting as little

I've tried waiting as little as 30 seconds and as long as 5 minutes. It won't work. I hit Ctrl-Alt-F3 to view the txt output and each time I hit enter, it says "getting kickstart file from first CDROM" then "no CDROM devices found!"

Any ideas?

USB

Some USB ports use daughter cards and those ports will not work as they are not "live / hot" during bootup.

So if you are using a port on the front or a port off a add in card or one cabled off a card the swap to one in the back of the unit PLUS check your bios settings for booting to USB devices
I have seen a few MB's with two seetings for USB boot, choose legacy or whatever and try it.

I am using a port in the back. I adjusted the BIOS to allow recognition of USB drives during booting. I know it's working because it starts reading the drive and installing Trixbox.

JamesG, Had the same

JamesG,

Had the same issue a while back with both the TB and PIF Distro and a LG Lightscribe, the fix was to return the drive to MicroCenter and get a USB 2.0 External Enclosure and an IDE CDRom to install in it. Have had no issue since.

The issue has to do with the USB Mass storage driver and these LightScribe units according to some things I have found on the CentOS forums.

Good Luck................

Try the following at the

Try the following at the boot line:

linux usb

This will load the mass storage driver and start the install.

Cheers
