Trixbox sound issue. Stutter when making and recieving calls

I just finished with my trixbox installation and setup. Everything is working fine except the sound. When i make a call or receive a call the audio to my softphone has a stutter.

I am using Ubuntu to run my Twinkle softphone
Just using the onboard sound with a headset.
Tried different headsets
I have tried turning off the firewall on my PC

The ring sound on my Ubuntu computer sounds fine when I call my softphone, no stutter.
I tried all the possible sound cards that Twinkle would let me choose from and only ALSA default would work but with the stutter

I am running trixbox 2.6.2.1

I am running behind a Linksys router.

I am not sure if there are more details that I need to provide but if anyone could help me figure this out I would be most appreciative. Thanks!

try to isolate the problem

hi sincityharley,

the biggest veriables in your setup are your internet connection or your ubuntu box. try to isolate the problem - do you have a hardware phone to try with trixbox instead of your software one? can you install a softphone on another machine and try it? if you get good audio with another phone then you need to look at your ubuntu box.

does the stutter work with internal and external calls? try dialling *43# (Echo test), this will set up a local call and allow you to test the audio quality.
