USB DEVICE FOR BACKUPS

This is probably a CENTOS question, but...

I want to use an external usb device for backups of my Trixbox. Problem is, I can't find out what where CENTOS puts the raw device so I can mount it. I've plugged and unplugged a thumb drive about a hundred times hoping to get a message that tells me something, but no avail.

Any Ideas will be appreciated...

Thanks
Bill

Re: USB DEVICE FOR BACKUPS

Watch the console (login as root)
when you plug in the drive it should see it and say something about SCSI device /sda

Now under /media you should have a usb device listed..(something like USB2048) mount that and have at it..now on some computers which have added USB ports (like the front ports which use a daughter board) they may not work as third driver must load in some cases. So if you do not see the device popup on the console it may not be seen..

That Got it...Just never occurred to me that my front ports were not up to snuff...
