Vonage router issue?
Hi, I am trying to get this working so I can sort out how to deploy it.
All seems ok, but I am unable to hit the website(ip) of the trixbox. I seem to be unable to grab an ip dynamically so I set one in the same range as the router...... Vonage(motorola).
I can't even ping the computer from my other lan computers. Do I have to forward some ports or something?
the vonage router is .15.1 so I set the trixbox to be .15.9 so it won't conflict with anything else.
suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Nigel Lew
I did know Vonage had router's in the past all they did was issue ATA's
But anyway if you go to the console and type IFCONFIG see what you get..
now if you run netconfig and set it use DHCP and then do a shutdown -r now
when it comes back up you go ifconfig once more does it show a IP address..
If you go to a pc and the network and do ifconfig / ipconfig whatever the os call for.
what do you get ???
Hi, you may still be accurate about the ATA situation.
My problems did not make much much sense, so I tried my other onboard LAN connection on my asus board. It worked right away.
I am not sure if I have my routes set up properly but I downloaded the recommended softphone and am trying to call anything with that.
It seems to be configured ok but I get the "sorry all circuits are busy message". Please try again later....
I will have time to get back to it shortly. It is sort of important and I can purchase whatever I need.
My main competition is going under in a week and they have a stranglehold on the valley deploying shortel stuff.
I would much rather use some open source stuff. It will revolutionize the area and certainly our ability to compete.
Can you perhaps give me a common deployment scenario for an office of say 20. I think that is a hardware question... eg: routers, etc.
thanks for your time, I am trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible.

ok, confirmed with Vonage(finally). They just told me they don't support pbx usage period....
They gave it a whirl as an additional sip line for business class, but apparently, the beta testing failed miserably.
Hence, no pbx support ever from Vonage.
Can someone suggest good Voip companies.... it would be for a small office here, so I can learn and test stuff, and I would need a good company to offer the Voip service to customers... Office of about 20 would be average.

Hope this helps...
1.) make sure on your Trixbox you have 192.168.15.9 as the IP
Subnet is typed correctly as 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.15.1
DNS is the same
Also make sure that the voange motoral is plugged into the firewall NOT before the firewall the WAN port of the motoralo is connected to a stwich port on the Linksys.
In other words the Motoral SIP device must be behind the firewall

I personally recommend InPhonex because they offer good pricing on 'all you can eat' programs, and they have incoming numbers as well as 800 numbers, and pay as you go. So you have selection. Plus all the stuff they sell isn't locked. So bonus there.

asterisk setup VoIp trunk No ATA
I just got that router with vonage, the thing is stupid ;) You need to use a cross over cable with it for some network cards, I had to. I will test it on trixbox soon.
