Need Cisco 7960 to work with SCCP

I have a Cisco 7960 that already has the sccp firmware loaded. I have also configured chan_sccp-b on the server. My problem is getting the phone to register in asterisk.

How much would someone charge to fix this for me and how soon can we do it?

Thanks.

I just turned down a client

I just turned down a client to setup sccp.

The problem is it hoses up the distribution and it's not supported by the GUI so where does that leave the client when you are done? One wrong yum command or reload of the dialplan can break everything.

If you know how to build modules and applications from source then you are prepared to support yourself in this endeavor.

I would be glad to teach you how to build Asterisk from source. I am sure there are other people who would do that for you also.

Also the phone config is a bit of a black art. Without sitting next to the phone it is an exercise in futility to try and walk a client through a configuration you are not sure how to do yourself.

If you want someone to figure it all out and document process you are talking about weeks of works and thousands of dollars.

Flash it with the SIP

Flash it with the SIP firmware (if you can figure out the right one) and then you can get it to work properly.

I have SIP and I'm not happy

I have SIP and I'm not happy with it.

I already have the sccp driver loaded on my machine. I have the sccp firmware on the phone as well. My problem is that the phone is not registering with asterisk. I'm sure it is a problem with my config files but I'm not sure where the problem is. I've spent about 2 weeks playing with it and am getting frustrated so I just want to pay someone to finish it off.

RE: Need Cisco 7960 to work with SCCP

Hello Juan,

The Cisco phones you mention were designed for SCCP and the SIP implementation is pretty poor on the early devices. You'd be better with SCCP on the phones and under *.

There are a few guides on the net that are pretty good to follow - BUT - your better off with some sample configs.

Can you post your sccp.conf AND how you configured the phones in FreePBX. They do work and they do work well with *. We've got a dozen that have been running now over 2 years with no issues. Once you've got the right firmware on the handsets and sccp installed and running there is not much else to do.

Without knowing your config thou; it will be hard to debug.

You don't configure the

You don't configure the phones in FreePBX as much as you point a custom extension to an sccp device.

Steve is correct, but post the contents of the custom extension dial string, and your sccp configuration files.

I am now able to receive

I am now able to receive calls but cannot make calls. If I dial an extension or a 10 digit number I just get a busy tone.

I am able to dial out from my SIP phones without a problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

**EDIT**

I have a couple of ringtones in my tftp folder that are not being downloaded by the sccp phone. Maybe the phone isnt getting the dialplan from the tftp folder either?
