I'm just trying to make sure this is theoretically possible as I understand it. Here's the situation. Our business is using a 3Com NBX system right now that's starting to fail on us. Mainly, we have some real oddball irregularities in the voicemail system, which wouldn't bother us, but its missing after-hours calls for our on call team. Its literally just not picking up some calls, and with the other errors its been showing, those of us that administer it are just sick of dealing with it.
As a temporary measure -- we need to get the on call system working reliably again. Here's what I'm thinking. Right now the NBX has 4 analog ports on it -- we have 4 analog lines coming in. Theoretically, I should be able to take a CE system with 4 FXO and 4 FXS ports and put it in between the CO lines and the NBX. Incoming calls to TB would get passed out to the NBX through the analog lines, and if there was no answer after hours I could have TB voicemail pick up and handle the call. We'll be using the VM notify script to page the on call team once a voicemail is left.
Theoretically possible, right? We're just trying to get a stopgap measure in place so the on call system is functional, then start migrating over to a full TB environment
