I'm trying to arrive at a solution for a customer that is easy for them to use. The idea is that they wil advertise around 100 items and have a single phone number with the products identified by a three digit code. Their customers then call the number, enter the code, listen to a recording and if interested, leave their contact details via voicemail which is emailed to my customer.
My initial solution was:
incoming => IVR -> announcement -> voicemail(no-msg)
This worked well. The IVR recognised three digits which I thought may be a problem however I seem to be limited to only 9 IVR options rather than 100.
The other way that would work is if I could use an announcement as if it were an extension i.e. the call arrives at the ivr (with direct dialling enabled) and the customer enters three digits as if it were an extension and arrives at the appropriate announcement.
I thought of using extensions with voicemail but that would be too messy for my customer as these will change often.
The final aim is to use a "locked down" freepbx so that my customer inly has one or two steps to take.
Please let me know if any clarification is needed. Any help would be appreciated
announcement as extension?
With trixbox CE you can place as many ivr options as you need, one, two, three, or as many digits as you want.
If this doesn't work, unfork freepbx. There are several instructions on getting this done.
I haven't tried unforking freepbx, but will do. I'm pleased to know that you can have as many ivr options as you need. As I said, I couldn't add more than 9 so your answer may well be the solution.
I'll report back
Worked a treat!! I knew there had to be a simple solution, funny how they're the hardest ones to find. Thank you once again
"...unfork freepbx. There are several instructions on getting this done."OK... I am stupid. I STFed "unfork freepbx", "unforking freepbx", "unfork" and Googled the same terms/words combinations, included TrixBox and whatever else I could think of. I searched the FreePBX forums as well... natha!
Now I haven't looked in any of my books yet, (not at home) but where are these instructions? And, what exactly is "unforking"? I 'think' I know, but I don't want to show too much ignorance here!
Thanks!
John
Before trixbox 2.6.1, the "PBX Config" (i forgot the exact name) was called FreePBX and developed by freepbx.org. Trixbox took that code and made their own web interface with it.
To remove, get on SSH:
yum remove trixbox
yum remove tbm-pbxconfig
Then "upgrade" freepbx by using these instructions:
freepbx.org/support/documentation/instal...pgrading-your-system
Then, update all the modules with Module Admin and Check for Updates online
That is what I thought it meant, wasn't sure if that could be done though and some other stuff came to mind as well!
I didn't think TB was quite that easy to 'unfork'.
