COULD I CHANGE DEFAULT USER???

Hi all!
i need to run asterisk with root user. I modified startup script so * run as I need. Therefore welcome web pages on trixbox does not have access to asterisk and i've got some errors when trying to monitoring extension in ASTERISK STATUS AREA on index.php
How could i change user in web pages to access asterisk monitor???
any help will be appreciated.

Why in the world do you need to run asterisk as root? I understand that to be a Bad Thing™.

Hi,
i need to run asterisk as root because i've installed Vicidial with Astguiclient in my server.
I need to manage about 30 client, 24 with predictive and 6 as offices. TRIXBOX is the best suitable suite for easily manage asterisk and a lot of his features. So this situation needs to run asterisk as root but trixbox web page use "asterisk" user so it cannot connect to asterisk and read about some features as extensions, peer and some more. The only thing i need is to connect trixbox web page with root username because i already have all functionalities as install packages, etc.
I know well that there may be some issues in security, but my server is on a Lan and it cannot be reach from external networks, so I don't need to run asterisk in safe mode or with particular users.

I still dont see why you need to run asterisk as root. There are plenty of vicidial setups that do not run as root.
 
VICIDIAL as ROOT

Hi,
i only was able to set up VICIDIAL with TRIXBOX using root user to run asterisk.
If asterisk run with "asterisk" user, AGI scripts from VICIDIAL doesn't work.
Can you tell me about using VICIDIAL with default TRIXBOX user?

Search through the forums, there have been a few threads discussing it. There is nothing about it that should require anything to run as root if it is setup properly.

I would like to run Asterisk as root as well , becuase for my deployment i need asterisk to listen to port 60 or port 80 udp for sip traffic , i cannot do that while running asterisk as user / group asterisk , can you pleaes guide us how we can run the asterisk as root ?
