DSS / BLF on Grandstream GXP2010 and GXP2020 on CE 2.6
I need to assign line appearances on grandstream phones. I would like to know if lines one through six are being used, and be able to place someone on hold and have that line flash, and anyone could pick up that flashing line. -- Much like the old Panasonic phone systems I grew up with.
I am using a Grandstream GXW4108 FXO box for the phone lines coming into the system, if this makes any difference at all in the programming...
I would also like to assign extension numbers to the fields, that would act as the Busy Lamp Field for individual extensions, to know if the person is on the phone, available, or logged out and away from their desk, etc...
I would appreciate very greatly any input from anyone here.
Thanks in advance.
trixbox is a PBX not a key system. There is not Shared Line Appearance functionality.
Search the forum for SLA for many discussions.
You can use the keys as hints for the parking lot. Also program a speed dial key as park. When you do that the key will light up that corresponds to the parking location.
Scott is right on, I have done this with the GXP-2010's.
What a key system does is match an appearance to a line. So your physical POTS line one will always show up on the same button when it rings in. With trixbox and Scott's solution, your call will ring in on your GXP in the upper left, but when you park the call, it will show up on the buttons in the lower right where you programmed the hints for the parking lot...but be careful here, because when you start parking calls, your first parked call goes in the 1st parking spot, but not necessarily corresponding to your physical POTS line one. See, clear as mud.
Totally understood.
I would like to handle my inbound parked calls in that manner.
Now I would like to know if you can watch individual extensions on the BLF of the phones, if I programmed some lamps to parked lines, and some to phone extensions, in other words, to see if John is on the phone or not, etc..
Is this possible?

Yes that is what they are for. You can also watch stuff like day/night status.
Just look at all the hints in the Asterisk info page under tools. You can subscribe to any of them.
