Got my first taste of Asterisk from Andrew's AAH...
then Trixbox, then certified with the first batch of ftocc admin and then ftocc tech.... thanks to Kerry G.
trixBox? Keri'sBOX anyone? All Things Must Pass... I guess.
Good luck to whatever you have coming up for you Kerry! Hope to see you again my friend.
Well Kerry I hope you stick around, you started out volunteering I hope as time permits you will remain part of the community.
On a side note we have seen alot of changes in the community. Andrew can you explain to me who makes up the Fonality trixbox team, Also with the belt tightening i imagine there is no better time to open this thing up tp the community and build a community development team where the people can maintain the level of trixbox and hopefully improve it without costing any of the payroll budget.
I have downloaded and installed the 2.6.2.1 and I am pretty worried. Worried that the users and companies that rely on their phone system to work don't get what they think they get.
No backup solution because trixbox does not include the FreePBX backup module. Worries about raid system breaking after yum update. Look in the forums about 2.6.2.1 and see what you get.
The next part is GPL, 2.6.2.1 (and all iso that contain the 'forked' version of FreePBX) does NOT follow GPL as it is missing vital pieces in the iso to be compliant. If fonality is found not following GPL it is the end of trixbox until they fix all outstanding issues. That is just waiting to happen.
That IS worrying.
The so called 'fork' of FreePBX that turned up in trixbox was just a branded version of FreePBX where the word FreePBX have been changed to trixbox. I think it was all hill down from thereafter.
Engineer Tim had to go together with some other people, then now Kerry, the Community Director for trixbox CE. Who is next?
And where does this all end?
Andrew is doing everything now it seems, so I guess it "Back to the future A@H" again.
Remember that without all the hard working volunteers over at FreePBX the success sic for trixbox would be none.

I plan on sticking around as trixbox is a huge part of my life and I even have a second book coming out in March that is quite detailed.
As for the GPL, as far as I know it is in compliance but if there is a valid complaint, Andrew will look into it, just let him know what you believe the issue to be.
As for FreePBX, you are going to start seeing all of the main new code showing up soon, it should be announced at ITEXPO.
There are three people on the CE team and I was the only one that wasn't primarily an engineering resource. Take away any of the others and everything comes to a halt, take away me and it just means more work for Andrew to cover.
Thanks for all the supporting emails, PM, and messages, it really means a lot to me.
Kerry,
We haven't spoken since shortly before I left ipPhoneShack, as I'd basically left the trixbox/asterisk community. I was shocked when I stuck my nose back into the forum this morning and heard about your departure! Good luck to you on your future endeavors, where ever they may lead. It will be a shame if you entirely leave the trixbox arena, you've been a very positive influence and an outspoken proponent for the trixbox family.

Hey Kerrry,
I know we had our differences, but losing a job sucks and I hope you can find a position that fits you well. These economic times aren't the greatest for anyone, and I hope you land on your feet.
Kerry thanks for all your work for the community. Many of us have been blessed because of your efforts and hard work. May God bless you in your new path.
Kerry,
I'm sure many people here will miss the information you willingly gave in regards to MANY trixbox matters when asked. So many times you only hear from people 'when they have problems'. That shouldn't ever be the case,it seems to me. I am sure you poured MANY hours into trying to put together the best mousetrap, you could conger up. In time you will find something even better ,you'll soon see. It's always good to have a change in terms of employment. It can be kinda scary ,though as well. How well i know. Please let everyone know what you end up doing.
Take Care,
Barry Cisna
Kerry - thanks for all you have done for the community. Each and every member of the trixbox community appreciates or at least in one way or another have benefited fromyour efforts in the Asterisk world both in and outside of your position with trixbox.
By the way, are the rumours running around the industry that CE is being canned by fonality true? If so, it would be a very selfish move on their part to buy up a project with so many participants and snub those, namely each and every user of the forum, who have lifted trixbox into brandname status. Without that community and their dedicated following - there would be no trixbox; just the HUD code owned by fonality.
Hopefully you can put this rumour to rest and hopefully it is nothing more than a rumour.
Best wishes in your new position, wherever that may be.

Good luck for the future and thanks for all your helps over the years :)
