Hello,

I have an IAXy device configured to TRIXBOX 2.6.1.13

Fresh install. ONE SIP trunk.
ONE Extension to IAXy.

IAXY makes a call, and can not hear other side ring.

Nor can the IAX hear if there is a problem with the dial pattern.

So this is a trixbox issue.

Once the call is established it can hear.

Thoughts?

EDIT ----

MAY have found the problem.

When I have the IAXy and the Softphone both registered as IAX, then neither can hear the outbound ring. Provided i do not have another IAX extension the problem goes away.

So if you have similar issues, try to isolate and only have one IAX extension registered to see if that is the problem.

I've got the exact same

I've got the exact same problem with v2.4. I've posted about it, and called digium without any success.

Can you try an IAX Softphone as well.

I want to confirm it is not IAX implementation but actually the IAXy.

So what's an IAXy? Isn't

So what's an IAXy? Isn't that an FXS device that speaks IAX? Is it on the local network with the pbx or is it remote? I would guess that the problem is something other than trixbox, IAX itself works fine.

The IAXy is an IAX FXS

The IAXy is an IAX FXS device manufactured by Digium.

No question it is the IAXy. When I called digium they asked me to update to 2.6, which I've just done. I have the same results as with 2.4

Occasionally I will hear the ring tone, but it is not consistent.

I don't know how well an

I don't know how well an extension over IAX works on trixbox but unless someone knows differently it should be fine. You still haven't said if the unit is on the local network or over NAT. I'd test local if not.
I would also test it config'd to a provider IAX trunk to see if that works. I don't know the device but there are tests that should isolate the problem.

I tried a ZOIPER

I tried a ZOIPER softphone IAX extension and periodically get the same results.

So no it is not definitely the IAXy, however the IAXy is consistently dodgy. This was NOT an issue in 2.2 (I built a new box for 2.6.13)

Setup

ZIOPER/IAXY (extensions) -----> TB 2.6.13 ---->NAT -- (IAXTRUNK)--->IAX GW

No ringing, but I can hear the answer.
If I disconnect prior to an answer, the call is not disconnected from my provider. (VOIP Provider)
If I use a SIP TRUNK, the call never connects.

Internally ZOIPER --> IAXY extensions I hear the ringing.

So I tried a few NAT things, and sure enough, if I put the TB in the DMZ, which was no change.
I port forwarded 4569, no change.

So, is this a nat issue? My tests dont show it as being such. Considering this worked with 2.2 and is broken in 2.6 (and reported above as broken in 2.4) looks to be a TB issue.

Anyone have suggestions on how to debug further? (Sorry for delay I never got the notices this had been responded too).

Update....

I invested in a new DID with a new provider, and I had NO PROBLEMS.

Looks like it is a provider issue.

I dont want to flame them out just yet. They will get it when the time is right.

I knew these guys are clowns but now I am going to have to try to show them it.

I am going to mess with some configuration issues and see if it helps.

Comments or thoughts are appreciated.
