Linksys SPA942 and shared line appearance
Hi,
I'm trying to get line keys on a SPA942 to show the state of another extension. According to the Linksys docs this is possible. Has anyone gotten this to work? Do I need additional configuration on the asterisk side?
thanks.
James
That is only supported on the SPA-962, the 942 does not support BLF.
Then what is the purpose of setting extensions to 'shared' in the phone configuration?
Is it possible to have SLA on a 962 w/o the 932 sidecar?
Each user only wants SLA/BLF for 1 other extension.
I find it hard to believe that SLA is not supported by the SPA942, or any other phone for that matter. SI this a technical glitch awaiting a fix, or a road map item awaiting a firmware update?

Cliff notes:
BLA works on phones that support SIP hint registrations (not familiar with Linksys)
SLA does not work with Asterisk, end of question
Hints can be placed on parking slots to emulate Key System functionality for users that insist on not learning how to use a PBX
For users that get the parking concept and don't need blinking lights to tell them what to do Aastra's XML visual parking lot application works very well.
The new firmware for SPA-942's support BLF.
Have you got the blf to work on a 942?

The user with the name 'aplucky' was able to get BLF working in a production environment with the latest Linksys firmware.
I have made the BLF work on a 942 with firmware 6.1.3a.
You use the same type of command strings like configuring a 932 for BLF.
Also, as a FYI, Linksys appears to have fixed the speakerphone volume issue that plagued version 5.2.5.
Can you please post how you made it work?

I have a short tutorial up on my website: go to www.yourexodus.com and click on Free Help. This office uses trixbox 2.6.1 and a mix of spa942 and spa962 phones. The BLF with pickup and speed dial works AWESOME!
