After much work below is the list of scripts that are now available to make your testing of TB 2.3.0.1 easier. These are ports of the TB 2x/Asterisk 1.2 stuff. All scripts have been tested in house one production machines and vmware images.

Server SSL Script

This script will allow you to generate a self signed certificate suitable for use on apache running under centos5.

Codecs Install Script

These scripts contain the g729 and G723 codecs designed for Asterisk 1.4X It now supports P3, P4, Athlon, and Opteron processors. As usual these codecs are for EVALUATION purposes ONLY. You must pay a license fee to use them.

Xwindows/KDE/VNC install script

Please don't whine at me about this. Some people actually want xwindows on their Trixbox. I use it everyday on all of my servers. This will install a stable kde version of xwindows on TB 2.3.0.1. THIS IS OPTIONAL DON'T INSTALL IT IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS.

Daily Backup script

This script will perform daily backups of the cfg files of tb 2.3.0.x and the copy them elsewhere via ftp, smb, or to an attached USB drive. It seems to work just fine however I recommend you test this prior to relying on it in a production setting. There are many new features under centos 5 and I can't test all of them. Feedback is appreciated. That being said I am using it daily.

updatesrc14.sh The uber install script for fresh installs of TB 2.3.0.X

This script is designed to be run immediately after installing TB 2.3.0.x onto a new machine or vmware environment. It installs most of the required software that is missing from the 2.3.0.1 ISO. It also corrects a number of problems with this version including but not limited to OP Panel problem, CDR problem, MOH problem, turns off unneeded programs, installs the very latest source from digium (yes the iso is outdated), and a host of other problems. I use this on my own machines.

WARNING AS FONALITY WHINES ABOUT THIS IT WILL BREAK THE USE OF THE PACKAGE MANAGER FOREVER! However last time I looked there was still nothing in the package manger for 2.3.0.x yet.

On all of my TB 2.2.X production machines (25 commercial installs) I use the asterisk 1.2 version of this script and guess what the package manager still works except for updating the Digium source.

Not being a regular user of the package manager this is no big deal. I use yumex under xwindows to install all of my updates works flawlessly with no timeout problems etc.... No I am not whining about the package manager!

That being said if you are a newb or have no idea what recompiling software means perhaps you should not use this script as it is NOT FOR BEGINNERS! You should only use the package manager from Fonality. Hopefully this keeps them happy.

Future things

Whole Disk Backup Script

Right now I am working on the mondo backup script that has been so successful on TB 2.X.X (37,000 downloads and counting) The problem is that Centos 5 introduced some complexities but I hope to have it out in the next few days.

Weather Scripts

I am still working on porting Nerdvittles weather stuff to a TB 2.3.0.X install script

Replacement UI

I am sure this will make some of you unhappy but I will be porting the Kennonsoft Dynamic UI so it will run with TB 2.3.0.X I am doing this for my own clients as when I move them over to TB 2.4 they will want the same UI they have always used. Will post this soon.

Centos 5/Asterisk 1.4x bare install

I have had some requests to modify my updatesrc14.sh to become a full fledged bare install of asterisk 1.4 onto a bare Centos 5 box. I was working on this prior to TB 2.3.0.1 coming out and will now finish it. This is more for testing software on a pure asterisk/FreePbx box as opposed to a production system.

That is it for now.

Thanks to Uncle Ward for his suggestions and continued support along with some very helpful code snippets. Ward you are the bomb.......

Tom
