Announcement:

Two new repositories have been created under yum.trixbox.org they are called devel and addons.

Devel - for experimental and major version change testing not for production.
*** Asterisk 1.4.2 / zaptel 1.4.1 and support files are currently in devel ***
To enable get the trixboxdevel.repo in your /etc/yum.repos.d (type the following)

cd /etc/yum.repos.d ; wget http://yum.trixbox.org/trixboxdevel.repo

Addons - This is an area for things that are outside the trixbox distribution that are useful for other subprojects. This repository is currently empty.

cd /etc/yum.repos.d ; wget http://yum.trixbox.org/trixboxaddons.repo

please email with any questions or problems related to the new repositories.

I tried this out...

I tried this out and the only way to see the 1.4.2 Asterisk was by selecting the all in the repositories. It would be nice if there was a devel and addons check box :)

So I could see 1.4.2 list as a trixbox package. Not trixbox beta or devel. I tried the install looked like it got the dependencies right.

Alas, it did not and Asterisk is not wanting to start. Same error as the previous PM install..before it was pulled.

So, I'll start over.... and wait a while.

Looks like the right direction. I understand this is not easy - But, if whomever regulates the repositories could post their general condition somehow..... or completely fork it in a 1.2.x and 1.4.x way. Or Production quality and everything else.

Just my two cents. That I spend a few hours earning. Well, sorta.....

Version 2.2

Version 2.2 will have all the repositories in the interface. There will also be an update path for 2.0 users. Thanks for testing!

I tried 1.4.X

Just for fun, I added the dev repos and checked the AsteriskNow GUI and click install.

It looked like it grabbed the right dependencies and installed. However, there was a zaptel error and Asterisk doesn't start. It is a good thing that 1.4 is on the dev repos only :)

how broken is 1.4?

Good Day,

I am fairly new to trixbox, but the setup that I need is fairly simple. My question is basically this:
I need T.38 passthrough to work, and as far as I understand, asterisk 1.4 supports that. I have read many posts stating that 1.4 is buggy and that it is only available through the dev repository. If i use 1.4, what will be broken? I do not have any additional cards and all I use is SIP. Will 1.4 be ok? What is expected not to work?

Thanks in advance!

Microfirmz...

I wouldn't use 1.4 in production yet. I assume this is for testing only :)
