I have just posted 2.2 beta 4

Please not that it can take all day to synch to the different mirrors. We think we have squashed all the bugs we had reported and a bunch of others that weren't. We also added support for Polycom phones to the Endpoint Manager.

To quell the hordes of PM's and posts, let me say this right up front:

1) There is no upgrade path from previous versions to 2.2 beta 4
2) There may not be an upgrade from 2.2 beta 4 to 2.2 final
3) We do not have a date for 2.2 final yet
4) There will be an upgrade to go from 2.0 to 2.2 WHEN 2.2 is final
5) Yes, you can send money directly to my paypal account
6) No, sending me money wont speed things up, but it will make you feel better

Nice.

1~4) I was already cool on those. Thanks.
5) Hell, I'll send you some money directly - where is the link?
6) depends on 5. I like feeling better.
and 7) Is there a change log?

There is no official change

There is no official change log yet, I will post it later. Most of it is the bugs in the bug tracker and we added Polycom support to the endpoint manager.

Looks good.

I see that you have package access without the need to use your forum credentials. Also, the registration screen looks nice and works well.

The network control is very nice. I like that you added openDNS.

The VoIP Providers and VoIP setup wizards is somewhat confusing, unless you plan to loose that menu items and stick with VoIP Providers with the tbm-voipstreet/teliax installs.

vmware?

Any chance we can get a vmware image of this?

IF you use the registration

IF you use the registration screen then you do not need to use forum credentials with the package manager, if you choose not to register, then you need to login before using the package manager.

Glad you like the network manager.

We are trying to decide what to do with the voip setup screens still.

As for a VMware image, it is VERY easy to run the ISO through VMWare yourself if you want, you can go to http://voipspeak.net and at the top is a link to Running Asterisk@home under Windows" which tells you how. If this looks like it is going to be a really stable build, then we will post an optimized VMware image.

Ok so I installed it and everything went as smooth as silk. Nice job guys!

I was under the impression that I can install/use the Digium GUI but I cannot find the option to install Asterisk 1.4.x and the GUI anywhere?

2.2 final & SIP signaling - Secure packet or Secure RTP session

Hi,

The Asterisk does have support for SIP TCP singaling and SIP TLS. Since, a part of Trixbox comprised from Asterisk.

Will Trixbox 2.2 final have support for SIP TCP signaling and SIP TLS?
If it will, please share with me on how do I config it in Trixbox.
I have CounterPath Eyebeam soft phone that has support for both either TCP or TLS.
(SIP UDP is basic).

In the freePBx webgui, I did not see any option to select SIP signaling for TCP, or TLS.

Thnx,

Tim

For Asterisk GUI you have to

For Asterisk GUI you have to enable the beta repository then you have to install Asterisk 1.4, then you have to install Asterisk GUI.

NOTE: You will no longer be able to use FreePBX to manage your system, and Asterisk 1.4 is not stable enough for a production machine.

Hi Kerry,

I checked the "trixbox beta" box and APPLY under "repositories". Then I went to the "packages" menu but there is no Asterisk 1.4 or Asterisk GUI showing up as an option.

RE: VMWare

Regarding the VMWare question:
It takes only 3 minutes to install the .ISO on Virtual PC 2007!
I just installed the beta4 ISO on Virtual PC 2007 and timed it.
3 minutes for the CentOS installation, and another 3 minutes for the post-install scripts.
So in exactly 6 minutes you have a completely running trixbox system!

So how does this compare with VMWare?

If your goal is to run Trixbox on Windows (for testing etc...) I can't see why you wouldn't use VPC (or Virtual Server)? VPC/VS is from MS itself so no 3rd party issues, it's completely free, and you don't have to fill in registration forms and request keys like you have to do with VMWare!

Voip Providers

I got the provider wizard going for VoIP Street, very nice. It is looking closer and closer. Of them VoIPStreet and Teliax? who else might show up there?

I am going to stay from 1.4 installs with the package manger for a bit longer.

Edit: I noticed the Teliax "VoIP Providers" showed up in the package manager. Very nice as well. I like like link " Setup | Sign Up | User Portal " part.

Quote from the download

Quote from the download page:

Note: Beta 4 is NOT ready for production use. Please refer to the bug tracker for current bugs. Consider this version to be experimental and for initial bug testing only. Beta 4 is still BETA software and is likely to have bugs in it. It is highly unlikely there will be any way to upgrade from beta 4 to a future version.

Let me know when...

Kerry, I am wanting to try the Octwave softecho. However, the only semi easy way of doing so is to use 2.2. And what sense would that make if you didn't have people talking a lot.

Is there a package available for 2.0 so I can use the softecho on a 2.0 that is in production?

I won't be real bummer if the answer is no.

I was able to get 1.4.2 running...

I installed kernel-devel using yum then switched to the package manager (with trixboxdevel enabled) and installed 1.4.2. Upon restart I did have a running system. The AsteriskNow GUI was non existent and while I have a menu item for it, I had to do everything in the CLI.

I think the AsteriskNow piece is not in the repository. I now have refreshed the box and will watch for the AsteriskNow piece to show up.

We are doing final tests

We are doing final tests with Octasic on our Zaptel builds which will then be available for 2.0 - 2.2

I don't know if it matters...

On one successful install of 1.4.2, I did the kernel-devel then -from source- Zaptel, Libpri, Asterisk and Asterisk Addons in that order - which resulted in a similar error. I then used yum update, which insisted on installing Asterisk again and this time Asterisk 1.4.2 ran with no Zaptel error.

The dashboard correctly reflected the status of Asterisk on the left, but not on the right.

Any update on when we could see a beta 5?

Would it make sense to create a forum topic just for the beta versions?
