Has anybody managed to get this working
we are looking to have open ser handle the sip registrations and have 2-3 trixbox boxes running voicemail tetc etc
or any other solution that would take the registration part off the trixbox boxes

Just follow the Asterisk tutorials for OpenSER. You can place any SIP.conf peer variable in the details section of trunks in FreePBX (PBXSetup).
