Trixbox Trunking via IAX2
I am the new admin of two phone systems. One of them was previously configured. The other one is a fresh install by me. All the functions work properly as far as trunking them together. I have achieved connectivity between old and new but not between new and old. It only works one-way. I do not know, if the old administrator, who is indisposed of, actually used a security phrase, secret, password to trunk these two systems together previously. I would know, if the one system hadn't gone down.
Here are my IAX2 configurations for one of the servers, the other one has the same config with slight differences to account for IP and Trunk Names:
Trunk Name:::
voip1
Peer Details:::
context=from-internal
host=10.13.10.1
secret=123456
trunk=yes
type=friend
username=voip2
Where are there any possibilites to add secrets or passords, usernames to make the trixbox more secure, since this is what I think happended or is going on. Since the new system is straight out of the box, it allows for the trunk to connect but not vise versa.
Looking fwd. to your guys' help.
check out my website
there is an article on that
What is the URL?
I forgot to add it to my updated signature
Here is the direct URL
http://josephades1.googlepages.com/adv_con2sys
Now I can call from ext. to ext. fine. I can call an extension from one trix to another trix and vice versa.
That's great, although it already worked before---ONE-WAY.
Why can it only work one way with the method/trunking described?
Now as I said, both ways work, but if I add ext. from one trix in a ring group of another trix it FAILS!
What can I do?
Thanks again for your help!! Still looking for different Solution Now.
Create an outbound route that uses the iax2 trunk. Under the dial plan use a prefix to connect to the other trixbox. For example, if you want to dial to ring group 605 or any ring group in the 6xx range, use the following:
6xx
But, you don't want this to interfere with the ring groups on the current pbx, so I would use the prefix "8" and have this under the dial plan:
8|6xx
