Gunzip report - Corupted file

Hi

If I do as you say I get this:

gunzip: /var/www/html/admin/modules/_cache/core-2.5.0.2.tgz: unexpected end of file

have also tryed with tar -xvf core-2.5.0.2.tgz and get this :
gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Have tryed to dele the file and get a new one with same resoult.

So I think they have a corrupted file:

what a mess!

Can you guys check to see if you have pri and zaptel commands in your asterisk cli anymore? seems that they are also gone as a result of this upgrade.

not worked for me...

this procedure seems to regress core to core-2.5.0.1.tgz but as soon as the check for updates is run and core-2.5.0.2.tgz is downloaded the same error appears... I have the added twist that all incoming call are dead. probably due to difference in versions.

anyone got a fix???

It's corrupted on their

It's corrupted on their repository, and since there is no svn access to the source from them, you can't fix it, they have to. If you were using FreePBX and we made such a glitch, you could get it from our svn source and manually install it.

Sorry I can't be of more help, it's forked code and in exclusive control of Fonality, and you probably can't pull the original module form FreePBX.org given the possible changes they made. (Although since all they are doing is re-branding it I guess you could try.)

Quick Fix

Go to http://update.trixbox.org/modules/release/2.5/ and download core-2.5.0.1.tgz to your desktop or somewhere convenient. Then navigate to module administration, Upload module (from your desktop). You can then manage it as a local module. It will do until the corrupt file is fixed.

PEOPLE the file name is http://mirror.freepbx.org/freepbx-2.5.0.tar.gz /.......dont overlook the posts and read first.
you guys are putting in .tgz at the end and thats what is giving you error on a manual fix.

The download file on the mirror is misspelled and that is why all this errors are happening.

Follow Medums post like this

cd /usr/src/
wget http://mirror.freepbx.org/freepbx-2.5.0.tar.gz
tar zxvf freepbx-2.5.0.tar.gz
cd freepbx-2.5.0

Medum, there are two

Medum,

there are two different 'discussions' going on here. Your suggestion is to go get the real FreePBX (which is a .tar.gz extension) and which ultimately solves the problem since you now have access to the genuine product. What the others are suggesting is to get the one core module in question from trixbox (which is a .tgz extension) and try to fix the one.

so everyone is 'correct' in that regard :-)

as far as cbrahm's question, it is in complete control of the Fonality team and I don't know what to suggest to try and get them to fix it. Maybe phone call to them? If the same issue occurred on the FreePBX site (since we are not immune to glitches either), fixing it would take me approximately 15 seconds, unless I was not already logged onto the server, then it might be more like 30-45 seconds since I would have to logon:-) But the point is - it is automated, all of our tools that package the modules can easily be run by any of the developers who have 'publishing' access...

Quick Fix successful

i got this problem before, so now follow me step by step

1. go to this website http://update.trixbox.org/modules/release/2.5/ .. and choose best packet (you try download and unzip on your computer if it succesfull)
2. go inside the path /var/www/html/admin/modules/_cache delete old folder core (just in case you move to folder /tmp)
3. access your trixbox website (http://youripaddress/maint) choose modules admin and next upload moduels and then click next
4. inside modules administrator choose core and then enable.

Resolving issues in trixbox

The best way to resolve a problem in trixbox is to post a bug to the bug tracker so that problems can get resolved by developers or trixbox community members.

We review the bug tracker

We review the bug tracker every morning and assign tasks based on what is in there. Combing through the forums to find a problem like this is very difficult.

philippel suggests you could install stock FreePBX. Of course that would break you system and force you to look at Philippe's banner ads. At that point you manage well just scratch build a system and put up with all the problems that this will gets you.

It seem like lately all philippel does is post in this forum about how much better his project is than ours. If you don't have anything useful or constructive to say please refrain from posting. Thanks.

I'm not liking the we vs

I'm not liking the we vs them jabs either. I like the fellows on both sides of the debate. But I do hope that everyone can get over that since it isn't an attractive situation. Frankly if I hadn't recently put trixbox into production I'd be hard pressed to do so now since these situations cause the community to be less friendly and less productive. But I like what I have so far.
I would have filed a proper bug report but I wrongly assumed that is was painfully obvious that the primary core file update was broken. But it would explain why the file hasn't been replaced with a fixed version yet. The bug is now officially listed and we will be grateful when it gets fixed. No big deal since this file is going on my test box. Production is working fine with the non beta version.

Andrew, There are others who

Andrew,

There are others who have suggested that but I don't think you will see such a comment from me here. In fact, I suggested that pulling the original core module from FreePBX.org would probably not work

philippel wrote:

I understand that you are a bit frustrated because forking and maintaining FreePBX is a bit harder then you may have anticipated, but there is no need to start making things up, just go and fix your repository so that your users can get on with their lives. And in the future, you may want to consider testing a download after putting up new updates to catch such things early. We all make mistakes, and then we learn from them:-)

Philippe, How can I help you

I am not getting frustrated at maintaining the code we get from you. We work hard to maintain all the code we get from all the different open source projects we combine into trixbox. The FreePBX code is no harder to maintain then any other. I fact I have been working with it longer than you have since I used the original AMP code in Asterisk@HOME.

What is frustrating me is your constant attacks on our project. You use lines like "all they do is take my code and rebrand it". And "If the same issue occurred on the FreePBX fixing it would take me approximately 15 seconds” doesn’t really help anything. What I want to know is what you really want? None of the other hundreds of open source projects that we use code from have ever posted negatively on our forums. Even Digium who’s SwitchVox product we compete directlly with has never posted negatively on our forums.

Your obviously unhappy with trixbox using your code. What can I do to help?

Andrew, maybe one day you

Andrew,

maybe one day you will learn that it is not my code, there are many developers who produce the code and another order of magnitude or two who contribute, whether small bits of code, bug fixes, or lots of other ways. And a large part of that population grew out of the same base as the old AMP that you started with, and got used to responsiveness and follow through. I do seem to recall one of the reasons you did the fork was a claim that bug fixes and progress on FreePBX was slow, or at least that was the propaganda.

When you break the core module (because of lack of testing on the process) and leave it broken for 5+ days, that hurts a lot of people. (And yes, the FreePBX team has had some related glitches, but if you scan the history you will see they have typically been fixed within minutes to hours - and they have very rarely effected the PBX operation.) Oh, there is also that added convenience that all the code is there in plane view to pull down and manually fix if waiting 30 minutes is too long...

When your FreePBX changes are material (e.g. not simply re-branding), one would be more sympathetic to such bugs and mistakes. When you are simply taking the same code and moving it to your repository, it would be nice to see you at least test the process and not leave show stopping bugs fester for so long when they are something that can be resolved in less than 1 minute and save a collective hundreds of hours of frustration and pain by the users out there.

Maybe that helps you understand a bit more, but, oh I forgot, the party line "shame on any of those users who were running beta code in production, they should never do that..."

Oh Boy

What the heck. I have never piped up on the FreePBX/tbm-pbxconfig debate but this is pretty much the boiling point for me.

Andrew, he is not attacking us/you/trixbox or anyone. Damn man, we do take his code and rebrand it. We strip out anything the resembles FreePBX and then spin it. I know, I roll the RPM. The comment of "If the same issue occurred on the FreePBX fixing it would take me approximately 15 seconds" is more than likely true and shows just how inept this fork is.

I reported this issue to you and Kerry last week. When I reported the module issue yet again to you this morning your comment was less than receptive "Send me the link". I have all but had it with the attitude between trixbox and Philippe. I have heard both sides and am fed up with the lot of it.

I told you guys not to do this from the beginning, damn near begged. I tried yet again after astricon to get you guys to roll back to normal FreePBX, but that just would not happen.

Why? Because of branding? Because it says FreePBX where it should say FreePBX (Not a freaking typo)? Has anyone had a problem selling a free trixbox system because it said FreePBX in certain sections of the GUI?

Ahhhhhhhh this whole thing just pisses me off.

Thank you,
Engineer Tim

Openness is key the community functioning. I hope there are no reprisals from Fonality management for speaking your mind.

Are you allowed to tell us if you are a direct employee of Fonality or a contractor with a specific scope of work?

In either case as I have said before you have been a blessing to the community.

Yeah, not sure myself

I would like to say thank you for all of the incredibly nice comments and messages I have got. I knew the community had a heart and was not a bunch of ass clowns. I can't express how much the support being given means to me and my family.

I hold no ill feelings towards Fonality or trixbox. I still believe in the trixbox product and was very proud to be able to work on it for the time I did. I hope that I have not caused too many bugs or issues while I was working on it. I always tried to maintain what was best for the users, this was sometimes not the same as what everyone else had in mind.

I do not have any details on who is/is not left.

I hope to continue to be a voice on the forums moving forward. I also have some projects that may see the light of day in the coming weeks.

Thank you again for the support. It really means a lot.

Thank you,
Engineer Tim

I am no longer a representative of trixbox and my opinions are expressed as my own. In other words...I have free will again.
