After much trial, frustration and error I have tried various sip services such as freedigits, stanaphone, MJ and some others, I have tried balancing and mixing between them to fit my needs such as taking advantage of the free income numbers and mixing it with services that offer free outgoing. My main objective is to reduce cost to the lowest in order to achieve a reliable service. these services how ever are unstable they go down during weekends and some have even stopped to exist or are no longer offering services. My question to the community is ...Are there any low cost services out there for home use that offer lets say a for a reasonable amount a year that offers a reliable long lasting free incoming DID number?

I'm tired of always having to change and free isnt always a good thing with voip services...

You get what you pay for in

You get what you pay for in life. How can a company without revenue provide a reliable service?

I would not even waste my time with these services. With pay as you go providers such as teliax you could keep your costs very low.

joking

You gotta to be joking..."a reliable long lasting free incoming DID number"
Come on in what world do you live. free ALWAYS cost more than it is worth.

If you want the phone to just work, it cost money and as prodiders like http://www.vitelity.net/ charge a whole .50 a month per DID
and less than .02 a min. and they JUST WORK you really can not ask for much cheaper than that.

Your MJ has about the best deal going, but as you have found out, it has cost (restrictions), if used as it is sold it works great for home users.

So you act like your time is free..I would guess you burned up a few hundred bucks in time messing with the "freebies"/

There is always SkyPE

Or even

Give voicepulse a try: http://www.voicepulse.com

I use their "connect" service for home. DID time and 800 numbers are always free and I can have up to 4 concurrent calls in one account. From a rate center perspective they are pretty low averaging 1.5 cents a minute for most of the call we make at home. Also they support Trixbox with thier own plugin to freepbx that will configure your trunks/did's and can also implement low cost routing if you have another outbound service that is fix-rate.

Yes VP is a good one, plus they have a TB freebie where it cost nothing and they give $2.00 in calls
I just happen to like / need the failover and portal functions I get from Vitelity

I'm learning about SIP providers too.

I scanned a lot of different posts/reviews searching for a decent VOIP provider. The closest to unlimited incoming/outgoing for a decent fixed price I could find was the $13.50/month plan that Future Nine offers with 3000 outgoing USA48 minutes per month. They are BYOD friendly and now have E911 service too.

Anyone tried them? How did it go?

I like Flowroute. They are really cheap (less than a cent per minute outbound in the US), their DIDs cost about 1.95$ per month. At my home, for personal use with them, my monthly bill is like 2.15$ lol.

For the last month, I have a Vitelity DID and use CallWithUs for my outbound. CallWithUs is $0.008 for most US48 calls.

I just got my GV number and have it set up with Gizmo5. Everything seems to be working quite smooth. I have the outbound route set to fail to CallWithUs and then to Vitelity.

Why do you need unlimited incoming? Have you analyzed a phone bill to see how much incoming you actually use? You are probably wasting money with an unlimited plan. Most people I have worked with on this subject are. Unlimited only means something if you actually use it.
