Okay all,

I have a Dell 840 that has a couple of weird issues that I am fighting..

1.) The asterisk Log shows a message continuously repeating
== Connect attempt from '127.0.0.1' unable to authenticate
== Connect attempt from '127.0.0.1' unable to authenticate
*** But I can't find away to determine who or what is attempting to authenticate..

2.) I had at least two core dumps (Console messages) and Asterisk restarted itself which is great. But people on calls were dumped off during the restart.. An I don't see any trail from the core. Was attempting to get Hudlite online about this time..

3.) From Cisco 7940 / 7960 / 7070 phones I can't seem to record any of the Greetings for VM . Dial *98nnnn, Enter Password, Select option 0, Select Option 3, dictate name, press #.
It does not appear to see the #...

4.) Have The following messages in the /var/log/messages file..
Jan 3 17:35:22 trixbox1 php: /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi-asmanager.php[824]: Undefined offset: 1
Jan 3 17:47:18 trixbox1 php: /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi-asmanager.php[824]: Undefined offset: 1
Jan 3 18:23:16 trixbox1 php: /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi-asmanager.php[824]: Undefined offset: 1
Jan 3 18:25:09 trixbox1 php: /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi-asmanager.php[824]: Undefined offset: 1
Jan 3 18:57:00 trixbox1 php: /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi-asmanager.php[824]: Undefined offset: 1

Anyone with answers to any or all of these issues I appreciate the HELP !

Connect attempt from

Connect attempt from '127.0.0.1' unable to authenticate - that means that some application on the server is most likely trying to access the asterisk manager port with the wrong password - have you customized any of the account info in /etc/amportal.conf?

this may be somehow connected to problem 4. Just a stab in the dark, but try removing phpagi in freepbx module admin.

Do you have any cards in this system?

No Cards

Plan box with SataRaid. All SIP right now.

Only change to amportal.conf is to turn off FOP.

Since the box is locked behind a FW except for the VPN to the SIP Provider I have not changed any of the passwords other than root..

not thinking its a hack -

not thinking its a hack - the logging shown is related to something on the box itself, run asterisk -rvvvvvvvvv and see if any further details pop up in the log to show what is failing to log in - see if it correlates to anything else you do - like does it log that connection error the same time you are accessing freepbx?

I doubt that would have anything to do with the asterisk dumping, I had this on another system and I am pretty sure it was related to a bad T1 card, unfortunately in haste to resolve the issue I didnt pin it down to the card, or a fresh install.

Is "permit=127.0.0.1" (or

Is "permit=127.0.0.1" (or something similar) in any of those three files?

This is from having the Main window with Status of FreePBX open

== Parsing '/etc/asterisk/manager.conf': Found
== Parsing '/etc/asterisk/manager_additional.conf': Found
== Parsing '/etc/asterisk/manager_custom.conf': Found
== Manager 'admin' logged on from 127.0.0.1
== Manager 'admin' logged off from 127.0.0.1

As long as you have that web page up, you will see this repeated over and over - it's polling!

yes, i think at least his

yes, i think at least his connection failed problem is most likely tied to something freepbx related. - have you tried removing the phpagi module? what version of freepbx is this?

Message Gone --

It was coming from HUDLite I think --

I did a "restart now"
Followed by a "/etc/init.d/hudlite-server restart"

An No more message..

Now if I could just get the VM Module to work I would be mostly home.

I can't get any of the prompts to record. And if I dial into the VM Box I get dead air, then a disconnect..

Anyone ??

In order to figure out

In order to figure out what's going on with that you're going to have to post some logs.

Please don't post them inline, they're almost unreadable, instead, paste them to:

http://pastebin.ca

and then paste the resulting url (that pastebin gives you) here.

Turn verbosity up (asterisk -vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvr), try a call to vm and capture the output.

Making Progress -

Morning,

I have found that most of the issues resolved around a problem with the TB ISO install..

The directory path for voice mail was not created and anytime something attempted to access a VM asterisk actually core dumped...

Several small issues with HUD and 7970-G phones left to work through as well as figuring out the 411 - Phonebook Directory function..

TIA...

Fixed my issue too...

service Hudlite-server restart fixed my issues as well with the 'cannot authenticate' problem.

== Connect attempt from '127.0.0.1' unable to authenticate

The same thing happens to our boxes when we do things like

amportal restart while we have the web gui open in a browser.

I'd never found a way to make that == Connect attempt from '127.0.0.1' unable to authenticate message stop scrolling in the trixbox console (asterisk CLI) until i saw this post...

SOLUTION CONFIRMED:

either service hudlite-server restart -OR- /etc/init.d/hudlite-server restart

both worked for me and made the unable to authenticate message stop without restarting the whole machine...
