OK folks due to the dramas ocured in learning how to install Trixbox I thought I would post the successful path as searching the web did not reveal the exact way of doing it.
Hardware
P4 2.53ghz 1gb Ram Original Digium 4 port card that shows up as Tiger. 2 PSTN lines on 2 FXO cards the other 2 empty so far.
40GB hard drive
5 Avaya handsets and some soft phone.
First install left way too much to learn, I got the handsets to talk to each other but that was it.
I then tried PABXinaFlash, no good it forces the secret to be alpha and numeric the handsets did not work.
Reinstall Trixbox, got everything working, on the second incoming call the hard drive crashed wiping out everything.
New reinstall and everything works in 15 mins.
Method used.
Install Trixbox 2.8.0.4.iso
remove install disc reboot
setup master password
I have a fixed dhcp number to a local IP but you can run the network config.
In a web browser type in IP of trixbox, then click on little button to switch to admin mode.
The goto PBX:PBX Settings
setup extensions for sip or what ever you need.
setup ring group(s) to get all extensions to ring when a call comes in
set ring group exit point to mailbox of primary extension.
setup Zap Channel DID's
channel one type "1" for first pstn, set Description to "Telstra Line1" set DID to "02nnnnnnnn" for your phones number in NSW then submit
do this again for channel "2" Desc = "Telstra Line 2" set DID to "02nnnnnnnn"
the web page says to update zapata.conf this is wrong go to PBX:Config File Editor and edit DHADI-Channels.conf and replace from-pstn with from-zapatel on both channels
then goto add incoming route and add new route.
Set Description something useful
Set DID to "02nnnnnnnn" matching line one of your PSTN's
Leave CID empty so all callers are transfered
Set Destination as your ring group.
Submit
Do again for the second inbound route
You can have different destinations, ring groups etc for each line.
The outbound route seemed to just work with no config
The problem for me was working out the differences between DHADI settings and Zapatel settings as most zapatels are obsolete.
I also tried setting the ring group exit point to a primary extension but it seems to ring the extension then hangup it does not continue to message bank of the primary extension?????
So as you can see to get a working trixbox in Australia is simple when you are not mislead by old web pages and help files.
I now need to add IVR to give people more message bank options IE; to leave a message for person x press 1 to leave a message for person y press 2. A better exit for the ring group.
I need to get some australian messages so people can figure out what a pound key is!!!
