SCCP Configuration and Installation with Trixbox

I have a formal document that explains the integration with SCCP and trixbox for 7960/40 phones and 7914 addon module. I need to have a way to upload this word document onto this forum so people can download. Any help?

When I can get this document uploaded, it explains how to install and configure the chan_sccp module with trixbox 1.2. The phones that I have currently tested and integrated into this are Cisco 7960, 7940, 7912, and 7914. In the future I will be adding the 7936 conference phone and maybe the 7920.

I'm doing this because I know there is little documentation out there on really how to integrate this wonderful feature into trixbox. I've been working out the bugs and testing this configureation for about a month now.

Once the document is available for download, please give me your feedback if you can get it working or not, or any obstacles that you run into with this document.

Alrighty... I put the document up on my website for download.

EDIT:
I have set up a portal to make it easier to host content such as this.

Here is the new link:

The document is kindof crude at the moment. I'm working on an official document soon. Please report any issues or finds you have with the document so I can update it.

Re: SCCP Configuration and Installation with Trixbox

There has been some updates to the document because of some recent issues that I've found.

1. For some reason the phone wants to use the default gw IP for the SRST options when it hasn't been specifically disabled in the SEP.cnf.xml file. There is an update to the document for this.

2. There 7960 phone is looking for a United_States & English_United_States folder that contains the United States tones and .wav files. There is an update to the document for this also

This should complete the document and the phone should work perfectly. I'll keep posting any other bugs that come about.

Re: SCCP Configuration and Installation with Trixbox

Found a bug for MeetMe application working with chan_sccp. When you create a conference in free pbx using MeetMe, Asterisk crashes with a core dump when logging into the conference. Here is the bug fix:

After you untar the chan_sccp module per the SCCP document in this forum, edit the sccp_pbx.c file and after line 290 add this C code:

// if channel type is undefined, set to SCCP
if (!ast->type) {
sccp_log(1)(VERBOSE_PREFIX_3 "SCCP: Channel type undefined, setting to type 'SCCP'\n");
ast->type = "SCCP";
}

Recompile the chan_sccp module per the SCCP document in this forum and you should be working with MeetMe.

I'm also working with app_conference because this module doesn't have to use the timing of a digium card. I'll let you know the progress on this.

Sorry folks, the update didn't show very well. I'll modify the sccp document to include the bug fix.

Re: SCCP Configuration and Installation with Trixbox

Hello knightsky!

Many thanks to your great how-to.

Do you have any expirience or plans on configuring 7970 with 7914?

And there is also a question about the limitations mentioned at voip-info.org. Could this problem be solved or it depens on architecture of the channel?:

1. a) You need to define as type=7914 for 7960+7914 console in SEP section of sccp.conf
Phone defined like that accepts two lines (first is put on first button of 7914 and second is put
on first button of 7960. You can use rest of buttons on 7914 (13 pcs.) for speeddials, but you
cannot use rest of buttons (five psc.) on 7960 (:cry:).

Sincerely
Kirill

Re: SCCP Configuration and Installation with Trixbox

We've made a lot of headway on this with many new features and bugs fixed. When I get some time I will try to post something.

Right now we are doing some testing over Satellite with fax machines and anolog phones. Next step will be working on getting trixbox registering with Cisco routers to use their fxs/fxo/pri cards.

anyone have this working

anyone have this working with trixbox 2.0??
trying to run through this document but I don't have the asterisk sources or know how to get them. I've got the phones (7961G) working on SIP but am getting HORRIBLE voice quality on all codecs. Softphones work fine. Lots of SIP retransmission errors so we were going to try SCCP to see if it fixes it.

Cisco 7912

Hi,

I'm running a Trixbox 2.0 system (get this - an old Cisco MCS-7820 Media Convergence Server, an old CallManager system that I picked up off of eBay for $50 to get it on my doorstep without CallManager or any OS), so being compulsive as I am I had to make it my new Trixbox, since I have all Cisco phones. So I got chan_sccp 20060408 running beautifully with one 7960, one 7940 and an ATA-186 all on SCCP images -- it's a beautiful thing.

Here's where I run into problems, on 2 fronts:
*When pressing the 'Private' softkey, and dialing out, it doesn't take effect, it just has my trunk's number. I have VoicePulse and my TB controls my outbound CID because I have an IVR that forwards calls to my cell phone with the original CID and all.
*I just picked up a Cisco 7912, configured it and have it running the SCCP image with my Trixbox "CallManager", but certain functions do not work -- such as Call Park (the button presses but does nothing, even when running the Asterisk console at logging level 7 so I'm convinced it's a software thing) and the MWI -- but both these functions work flawlessly on the 7960 and 7940. Also, when the I use the SCCP command on the Asterisk console to send out a server message (where "Your current options" usually sits) it will hit every other phone except the 7912, which will sit at "Your current options".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chan_SCCP is probably one of my favorite Asterisk/Trixbox features and I believe it is underestimated -- many companies have CallManager systems with SCCP handsets but this would be a no-brainer migration to Trixbox for many of them and still be able to leverage the rock-solid Cisco portfolio.

7914

Just a note to let folks know that all of my buttons fill in with a 7970 and two 7914 sidecars. The first two fill in with lines, the remainder with speed dials.

am running firmware 8-2.2sr1s on the 7970 and S00105000200 on the sidecars

Kudos - Great Post

Thanks for all the hard work and details in here... Great friggin post. I'm dealing with a small 7940/7960 shop (10 extns) right now all running SIP and they dropped a bomb on my that they want receptionist to now have 7914 Sidecar.

No I have some good information and at least an idea, but still sounds like a lot of work now that I already got SIP working great.

They are already running HUDlite and can easily transfer extensions, so I don't know what gives, hard to break people of these old PBX habits.

Anyway, thanks!

I'd offer the same hosting! - In real need here

I'm not that much of a linux guru. So I'm still looking for comprehensive sccp documentation. Everywhere I look, I seem to be missing pieces. Firmware, config files, trixbox sccp installation guides.

A really good comprehensive guide on what needs to done to the phone and what to install on the trixbox would be great! It could only get better if the files were included too!

Email me at: rghabel@yahoo.com

Can the trixbox support team help with sccp questions?

HELP with SCCP/skinny install

I'm at wit's end. Could someone email me a file or .so package or whatever I need to get an cisco 7960 phone to work using sccp or skinny? Please email to mattcero@gmail.com and tell me where to put it and a few other steps if necessary. Thanks tons. I don't know much about untarring, gzipping or creating modules so if you could idiot-proof it for me I'll owe you one. Thanks. Matt, Seattle, WA

Not wanting to be the bearer of bad news however without direct support in trix you are going to have to kow your way around Linux, which means the command prompt.

That is not a big motivator for somebody to hand you something that they invested a large amount of time in. If you need this done and it has value then pay one of the highly skilled folks around here to do it for you. Just post a bounty (see the instructions) and watch the help roll in!.

I agree with you but.......

I agree with you but I'm assuming you didn't pay for atleast one version of Trixbox/Asterisk and someone did invest a ton of time creating it. I did post a bounty but I'm also assuming the solution to my problem has been passed around one thousand times so I, in keeping with the forum and everyone else on it, am looking for someone to pass assistance along my way. Have a good one. MC

Not sure where you are going with this my team has invested 100's of hours preparing trix CE ready to deploy for customers. We have engaged external contractors and paid them prevailing rates. We support the project. I also contribute 5-10 hours a week helping people in these forums.

It is great when someone posts a detailed method or procedure for installing or upgrading an application. This is their choice and it is what makes the community great.

SCCP is not directly supported by FreePBX. Supporting SCCP has tremendous commercial value. There is enough info out on the net to do it. It is not that hard.

I think you will find many people willing to help you make your modules. In fact the answers to your questions are almost all in this thread. From my perspective you gave up and surrendered and when in search of somebody else to do it for you.

Personally I don't think $40.00 bounty is going to generate much interest. I have ranted on this before. Custom Asterisk/PHP developers are worth $250/hr. I consider anything less a bargain.

Good luck....Scott

Found it!

I re-posted a link to it on my blog so people can take the development of this further...if they wish.
