Any recommendations for a residential provider using IAX New York area.
I currently use broadvoice with their in state plan using SIP. I keep having difficulties using SIP with Zone Alarm 100G. I like the firewall more then broadvoice so looking for an IAX provider.

Voipjet comes to mind,

Voipjet comes to mind, although i don't know about inbound calls, they might be outbound only.
They provide IAX trunks, work really good, depending on the amount of money in your pre-paid account you can have multiple simultaneous calls.

VoicePulise

VoicePulse Connect provides IAX2 trunks but Connect is *just* trunks in and out--without any features like call-waiting, voicemail, etc. VoicePulse does offer residential service but it may not offer IAX support; I couldn't find anything definitive on their website--you may want to contact them. Also, for what it's worth, the two SIP proxies they provided me where for San Francisco and New York so you'd be set there.

If that doesn't work, you may want to review the list of providers at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/VOIP+Service+Providers+Residen...

All the best,

I was going to post the same

I was going to post the same question and you beat me to it ;^)

I emailed VoicePulse yesterday and they confirmed that their $24.95 residential service does not support IAX2. I would like to find a service with unlimited incoming, inexpensive virtual DID's, and IAX2 support. I would be willing to pay a higher rate for the outgoing long distance. An east coast location would be a plus since I live in Vermont.

VOIPStreet offers IAX

VOIPStreet has flatrate inbound DIDs for $9.95, with outbound calls at $0.019 per minute. They offer IAX trunks which have worked well in my experience with them. Per-minute DIDs are $2.95, I think. I'm not sure where they are located, though. I'm thinking Chicago, but I'm not sure.

Why don't you just

Why don't you just reconfigure your Zonalarm to allow sip traffic? If it is running Stateful Packet inspection, you may have the same problem with an IAX trunks also. Both protocols have media streams, but use different port ranges.

IAX is working fine

IAX is working fine. I have spent days with Sofaware support to try and make this work. They recently added some support for SIP, although ATA's are working I couldn't make it work with Asterisk.
