The 'hiss'

What conclusions have been made about the 'hiss' problem with cards like the Digium 400? Has anyone tried an external FXO interface box? My hiss is so bad that my project may fail because the users will reject the system.

Suggestions and alternatives would be welcome. For example, do the special vendor packaged platforms have the same hiss? etc.

I have never heard hiss in

I have never heard hiss in Digium boards or in the Openvox cards.

Really? There are numerious posts on the web concerning the hiss present on FXO boards and not heard on the POTS line when connected to an analog phone. It is quite distinct. If I turn down the volume, the callers voice becomes too low.

Has anyone else experienced this?
