Analog to Sip and Credit Card Machine

To start: I am new to this, but have years of unix experience.

We have an office where we need 6+ phones, Fax Machine, Credit Card Machine.

I did a search and keep coming up with crazy rezults but need to make this work before new office opens next week.
We have trixbox/asterisk setup, use 7960 phones connected and making call just fine. Followme is also working well to field cell phones. So here are my questions

1. I am sitting on a 10mbit business cable connection by comcast. I have Download average of 11mbt and upload of about 2-3mbt depending on time. I want to be able to send couple of 7960 phones to our sales people so they can connect to same system from their home offices. I cant find any article to do it.

2. We have several credit card machines, they worked with vonage, but i read that they might not work. So the question: is there a device that has two analog lines and one network port that will sign on as a SIP phone. I will connect a) credit card machines b) fax machine (for outbound faxes).

3. We want to have a 7970 color phone in the conference room, but I am reading YMMB posts about it any comments.

FYI we are using Callcentric with 2 DID numbers and 10 channels out and 6 channels in.

Thanks

Eugene

Ata and Cisco

Cisco are not phone for remote as they do not handle SIP thru NAT very well.

As for ATA's and faxing / credit card swiping.
This is a hit a miss, and I know your've heard this before ;~)
Size does not matter...
it is lag which kills the "modem" device working behind the ATA's

So I would test a device or two before I when to hog wild. Look at the Snom or Polycom for remote

Eugene,

I use 7970's for my installs so that shouldn't be an issue at all. As long as you have an idea of what you are doing, or have an example to follow, setting up a 7970 was just as simple for me as setting up a 7960.

ATA

1. Can't comment for sure but wondering... If you have a firewall at both locations, wouldn't a simple VPN between the remote and local site make the connection easier (this may affect performance if you have cheap firewalls)? Let the firewalls handle the work of figuring out the network and the phone would just be on an extended part of the network. Just a thought.

2. I recently used the PAP2T for fax over wireless and it has been performing well... 2 analog and 1 Eth.

3. We generally use Polycom so can't comment.

Eugene, please tell me you

Eugene, please tell me you succeeded on installing the faxes and credit card readers. I'm using the same type of phones and I can only get the faxes to work.

SPAM links

Johanna? Do you get paid for those spam links. Every one of your posts has one.

Knock it off.

What setup do you use for faxes?

I was trying HT-386 with Inphonex, Gafachi, IPComms through a trixbox but it didn't work. I spend around 2 weeks looking the best setup. At the end it works with IPComms and Talkin with no trixbox... HT386 direct to internet but IPComms and Talkin needs to use one trunk to send and another one to receive, then you need to put 2 fax machines. Finally we went back to analog line on faxing and credit card machines. Can you share hardware and software setup?

Personally, I Find An Unobtrusive Link...

...far less offensive than a massive great graphic!

You can easily miss the links, as typified by the posters to this thread, but you can't miss the graphics, they jump up and smack you straight in the face and take up far too much room.

Scott, before you get your hackles up, this is not an attack on Snoopy (I own over 100 Charlie Brown / Snoopy books and a biography of CMS) it is that lumbering great blue thing that appeared a few days ago that gets on my nerves!

I kind of like him. I feel exactly as he looks most of the time. Especially after a 14 hour day! I am round around the middle like him thought I do not have a giant snoz nor a tail.

As I Said Previously...

...I do not see the problem with the unobtrusive links as featured in this thread.

If people don't want to follow the links they don't have to and they can hardly be accused of stealing (loads of) bandwidth. It is hard to even categorise them as SPAM if they are attached to relevant post!

How are they worse than the advertising links other posters include in their sigs?

I am not associated or affiliated with any of the people on these fora or the products they are pushing but find it strange that someone can be slated

for including a link in their sig when other people who are are blasting massive posts of 50 lines or more to every forum on this site are left to do as they please.

Has anyone looked up the registration details of the real spammers and sent a message to postmaster@xxx or abuse@xxx? Hello? Hello? Is there an administrator in the house please?

I deleted the message before

I deleted the message before you saw it, I think that is the source of the confusion.
