Ok. I have a 2.2.3 system running with the modules installed for VM. I have run the polycom setup on the *box, created the ext, enabled VM. Added the endpoint in the endpoint manager. But when I dial *97 I get nada.

I have deleted the ext, recreated it. What are my choices at this point for trouble shoot. Reinstall the OS and *?

Does the phone icon on the phone look like an outline or a solid phone? If its not solid then the phone isn't registered properly. Did you point the phone to the tftp server on trixbox and reboot the phone?

outline

Thank you for the response.

the phone is an outline. I set the Phone's FTP setup to the IP address of the trixbox. Tried it with and w/o the User: ftpuser PS: askeriskftp in the phone.

It didn't work. But also I'm getting a message of the "could not contact boot server." But I didn't think that had anything to do with the VM problem.

?

This phone was used on a AAH box before so I didn't think it needed any updating. But if someone can reply with some things to try it would be awesome.

Hmmmm

Don't know about Polycom phones but Cisco, Aastra, and Grandstream all use TFTP, not FTP. So I would check and make sure you have your phone setup correctly to connect to your server.

Is there a firewall with an access control list that could prevent the phone from contacting the server? This could also cause a problem

FTP

In the initial setup I don't see Tftp, only FTP. I'm confused.
This on my lan, so no firewall that i'm aware of. Unless my trix out of the box runs one.

TFTP

I found it. There is an option to change it from FTP to Trivial FTP.

I'm getting closer, but the phone is still not registering.

Honestly...

Just sign into the web interface of the phone and configure it from there. Atleast that will get the phone working until you can get it to prevision correctly.

It doesn't have to be provisioned by trixbox to work. You can pretty much just set the IP address of the trixbox server and the extension as the username and the "secret" as the password that you used when you setup the extension, and the phone will start working.

From there you atleast have a phone until you solve your provisioning issues.
