Hi,
We have TB2.2 which has been working fine with 1GB Ram and the memory usage is static at 27%. However when we install TB2.4.2 it's Physical Memory starts low at around 25% but creeps steadily up to 95%+ over a short period of time.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't really want to place this into production is it requires a reboot every week

That is normal. Linux will use as much memory as you have available for caching. The important counter to watch is the swap, if that starts to creep up past 0% then you have a problem.

Another week, another memory leak that is not a memory leak thread
Forgive me for not understanding that memory creep to 95%+ usage on an idle, unused system is not a leak. Remember the previous TB2.2 versions did not display this trend, raising questions. Especially when main console changes to red, this will draw further questions as to WTF is it doing!
Perhaps education in the documentation is the way forward rather then slating people who question the system. Also I would change the layout of system status screens as not alarm system admins.

There have been numerous threads about this on this board. Just do a search. It comes up at least once a week. If this board had the ability to make threads into stickys perhaps it wouldn't keep coming up.

There are many times I do a "search" with no good results and have to ask.
There are patient people who like to teach, then there are old codgers who sit around yelling, "Don't ya know nothing?! Figure it out yourself" (even though they learned it from someone)
Sorry to burst your bubble but I could care less how many posts I have.
I don't think it is being hard when someone says they did a search and found nothing when the MOST obvious search word comes up with the posts right away. They are just being lazy.

There's no need for that attitude, particularly your use of language. I may only have a few posts but that's because I've been using the site correctly, hence my lack of posts. Now when I need and answer to an unusual trend I get a flamer on my back.
For the record, I've implemented over 20 production TB 2.2 installs in the last few months and rarely did I not find an answer to a major issue by searching the forum.
Go on, send a few more posts to make the 1K mark. You're just bursting at the seams to reply! ;D

Mustardman, if you don’t have anything constructive to say, please don't continue. I'm an IT professional for 16 years and know my fair share, although never arrogant enough put others down when asked for advice, or proud enough never to ask a question.
Indeed, I have many TB installs under my belt but rarely have to "get under the hood" to often to understand more on a subject. You see, the main thrust of the question is to understand the differences between TB2.2 and TB2.4 when on the surface they look similar but present alarming differences.
It's about delivering a stable and consistent platform to clients with good functionality, rather than understanding every nuance of the underlying code.
So in future, please remember to contribute than condemn.

Who cares if this is a common question. It only takes like 3 seconds to type: "This is very common for Linux, as the OS likes to use all available RAM for caching." Maybe I just type faster than you do mustard?
