Hello everybody.

I installed trixbox at work a few months ago and I am very happy with it.
The only thing that bugs me is that we are still using our old Nortel Norstar Compact ICS system.

I installed a Linksys PAP-2T ATA adaptor between Trixbox 2.6.1.13 and my Norstar system, we can use 2 VOIP lines from the Nortel phones, passing through the ATA adaptor, it was easy to make it possible to make outbound calls from the Nortel phones through VOIP lines.

But now, we need to make it possible to receive calls from the voip system on these Nortel phones. I tried a few things from what i've read on the web, but everytime I dial the custom extension, for some reason, the call is dropped.

here is what i've tried:
Let's say one of my ATA's extension is 333, and the extension # I want to dial on the nortel system is 505
So, the idea would be to redirect the call to extension 333, then wait one second or so, then dial the digits 505

I added a CUSTOM extension in the extension tab of trixbox, in the dial box, i put something like:
SIP/333,,505 OR SIP/333(ww505) OR SIP/333ww505@pstn OR SIP/333ww505

In the config file editor, in the extensions_custom.conf

include => from-internal-ABCDEF1234
[from-internal-ABCDEF1234]
; exten => 353,1,Dial(SIP/333wwwwwww505@pstn)
exten => 353,1,Dial(SIP//333)
exten => 353,2,wait(3)
exten => 353,3,Dial(SIP//505)
-----------------------------------OR
;[from-internal-ABCDEF1234]
;exten => 353,s,Dial(Local/333@local-local,D(ww505))
;exten => 353,2,Hangup
-------------------------------OR
;exten => 555,1,Dial(Local/333@local)
;exten => 555,2,wait(2)
;exten => 555,3,SendDTMF(505,1000) ;

Does anybody has an idea of somethign Icould try !?!

thanks alot !

I would think the best way

I would think the best way to accomplish what you want is to get an FXO gateway for the trixbox and a Norstar ATA for the CICS (in fact, most CIC's have an ATA built-in on pair 20) Then you'd just have to create an outbound route that would direct the DTMF digits to the dial tone generated by the Norstar.

No hardware addition

thanks for your answer !

I am definately not going to be looking to add some other hardware to my installation.
I want trixbox to transfer the call to the PAP-2T extension number i want, then, on the nortel norstar menu, to dial the extension of the nortel telephone I want. I am certain that somebody found a way to make this work.

thanks alot !

You should have the trunks

You should have the trunks answered by the voicemail and use that to recieve the DTMF and direct the call. (an Auto-Attendant.)

You would need need to use a MICS (instead of the CICs) that would allow you to program target lines to direct to specific extensions directly. It also would need to have a compatible expansion card (E&M trunk, 6 port fibre combo, or a services card) that has a dial-tone generator/DTMF reciever.

This is going by memory of using VoIP to link two Norstar MICS sites together and allowing the users directly dial extensions.

Need instuction to setup this please.

Hello, thanks for posting this message. We too have a old Norstar MICS PBX and I wan to fix a PAP2 to have 2 VOIP lines to call out [Calling In] is not a major requirement now.

Can you please explain me how to setup / configure the PAP2 to the Norstar MICS. I mainly need some instructions that required to be done at the PBX and Tribox level.

I assume when some body want to use a VOIP line he/she need to dial a prefix or extension to get a line and then dial the number you want to call?

Thanks / Regards
