Can anybody recommend which cards are best for using with trixbox?
i currently have 1 Eicon Bri Server card (expensive) running with Trixbox and i have a shedload of Eicon Diva pro (cheap) cards lying around. Would these cheap cards work as well as the expensive server card?
Do the cards have to be of a server variety to work?

Re: Cards for ISDN

The need to use active cards boils down to the available CPU from your system. If you don't have a powerful CPU then active cards will reduce the processing overhead on it. However given the low cost of server CPU's passive cards are fine for most configurations I've seen.

As long as you follow the install processes for Eicon boards both should work.

As for the cheapest cards I use the Billion BRI ISDN card (HFC chipset) at around 15 UK pounds ~ 20 Euros/USD.

Re: Cards for ISDN

although i could get an eicon diva server pci to work, i couldn't get the eicon diva pci card to work. chan_capi just wouldn't install.
i have ordered one of the billion cards (cologne chipset) to test with. has anybody used one of these?

Re: Cards for ISDN

Hi,

well I think most of the users that is using BRI are using one with the HFC chipset.
as the install-ZAPHFC script made by W1zz is fuly automatet.
so all you have to do is insert your billion card and type install-ZAPHFC then the driver is downloaded, compiled, installed and configured, well it can not be more easy.

Re: Cards for ISDN

So I assume the install-ZAPHFC script deals completely with the HFC chipset based cards, Is there any advice on running Trixbox with an AVM Fritz (BT Speedway) + ISDN2e.

Will the system work 'out of the box' with this card, or do I need to download + add modules.

Could someone post some example configs?

Any advice much appreciated.

Re: Cards for ISDN

I've managed to break trixbox on numerous occassions with install-ZAPHFC so its not quite as simple as it should be. I think the avm fritz does work with install-ZAPHFC & bt isdn2e is bri (euro) so it should in theory work. in practice is another matter.

Re: Cards for ISDN

For anyone following this thread....

The issues being experienced with cards being installed that require asterisk, or its modules, to be pacthed/re-built are as a consequence of the new update/rpm methods being used.

PLease check the following posts out here and here.
