Sangoma A200 FXO - SLIM connector?
Hello,
I bought an appliance with a Sangoma A200 with 4 FXO ports. However, I did not get a cable with it. The wiki mentions that it uses Slim Telephone cable connectors. Where can these be found/ordered? Is there a technical name for them, i.e. RJXX? Also, trying to set this up for the first time, so please bear with me. Is there a page that lists different ways to install this (can it be connected to a regular jack in the wall vs. the input line directly from the CO from the closet)?
Thanks!
From the Sangoma Wiki:
----------------------------
Sangoma SLIM Telephone Cables Connectors
Sangoma A200 cards use SLIM 4 pin telephone cable connectors. The initial shipment of telephone cables contained these SLIM connectors on both sides of the cable. As it turns out, the SLIM 4pin connectors are not reliable when connected to a standard telephone 6pin female connector.
Therefore, if you received a telephone cable from Sangoma with SLIM 4pin connectors on BOTH ends of the cable, CUT one end off and attach a standard 6pin telephone connector to that end of the cable.
they're commonly known as RJ9 connectors (4pin modular). Typically all Sangoma cards come with these cables.
We've connected directly to BIX blocks at the demarc from the telco, as well as into 6pin modular jacks (female "RJ11"). They work just fine, despite Sangoma's warnings otherwise.
Since I bought this used, I didn't get that cable. At least I know the common name for it now, thanks!
So, I'll need an RJ9 connector on one end, and an RJ11 on the other. I'll see if I can get one made at Fry's Electronics or a local store before I order online.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
FYI, this is the same as a handset cable end. When you are looking for these ends you may want to ask for the smaller play that goes on a handset.
Also, standard rj11 crimp tools do not work.
these are technically rj9 ends but they are more often refered to as 4x4 ends where regular rj11 ends are 2x6,4x6,or 6x6 being '# of pins x # of slots for pins'
greybar is a great place to get these as they also have the greenlee crimping tool that does 4x4 and 6x6 as well as 8x8 rj45 ethernet.
