So Close I Can Taste It

I said "screw it" to Cisco Linksys boxes.

Reinstalled my Digium 4 port PCI card and reinstalled some zaptel drivers I had forgotten to install when I had previously tried, and failed to configure the card.

I have Outbound calls working as smooth as butter.

Having trouble with Incoming calls though.

I get a "No DID or CID" match when I monitor the call coming in.

I have one POTS line connected to to the Digium card.

POTS Line - - - - Digium Card - - - - Trix

Anyhow, I setup a basic Zaptel Trunk, left everything default.

I then configured a Zaptel DID for channel 1 on the card and set the same DID under the incoming route, and had any calls coming in on that trunk to be routed to a Polycom phone.

I double checked and made sure the DID was correct.

When I say DID I mean the phone number assigned to the POTS line.

Anyhow, I can't call in. Keep getting no CID or DID match.

Can't imagine it couldn't be any harder than setting up the Zaptel DID, a trunk, and in inbound route with the DID specified.

Thanks.

Are the zap trunks in the

Are the zap trunks in the from-zaptel context?

You can set a catch all route for Zap trunks, it's simpler. You only need Zap DID's if you want individual lines to be routed.

Yes I want individual lines

Yes I want individual lines to be routed based on DID.

We're using Trixbox as a fax server, so individual lines may be needed to be routed to certain fax groups or departments.

So basically

DID - - - Inbound route - - - Ext.

DID2 - - - Inbound route - - - Ext.

DID3 - - - Inbound route - - - Ext.

DID4 - - - Inbound route - - - Ext.

I would set a Zaptel DID for each channel on the Digium card, and set the DID on the Inbound route for Trixbox to look for and route correctly.

Seems so straightfoward, but I keep getting the error described above.

Are your trunks in the right

Are your trunks in the right context as I asked before?

A 'show zap channels' from the CLI will confirm.

Trixbox isn't allowing me to

Trixbox isn't allowing me to do the "show zap channels" command when I'm in the asterisk CLI.

only allows me to "show parkedcalls"

Come to think of it, I can't inititate the genzaptel conf command either.

One thing that i did do today was install the zaptel packages from the web interface. Never done that before. Could this be why those commands aren't available to me?

You really have not posted

You really have not posted enough information to be helpful.

What version tb do you have?

If it's 2.8 you may have screwed the pooch installing Zaptel as the 2.8 is Asterisk 1.6 based which ususes the DAHDI driver stack (a rose by any other name).

Does show dahdi channels do anything?

Did you run the setup-pstn script from the Linux shell?

Ahhh, you're right. I

Ahhh, you're right.

I remember when setting up the zaptel trunk that after I installed the zaptel packages, the name of the trunk changed to Zaptel (Dahdi Compatibility Mode) (in FreePBX) (thought nothing of it)

Anyhow.

I did a setup-pstn

Everything went fine.

And I can now initiate the "dadhi show channels" command which shows "from pstn" as the context.

And I'm running 2.6, going to upgrade to 2.8 once I can get all this working.

Laughing, I only have 2 companies to run and a tee time to set for tomorrow.

I already answered this question also. For ZAP did contex must be from-zaptel (not sure if it is from-dahdi now...you can check with 'dialplan show from-dahdi' and 'dialplan show from-zapel'

The context is set in the /etc/asterisk/zapata-channels.conf

There are no Zapata config

There are no Zapata config files. At all. Not after I installed the Zaptel packages.

There are no Zaptel commands on the system either, such as zaptel show channels.

Zaptel is 0 on this server.

It's like everything is Dahdi now, whatever that is, hence whey I can perform the dahdi show channels command.

I'm just going to reinstall the Trixbox server, thanks anyways,

P.S.

"Anyhow, Scott, you haven't responded in a while"

I wasn't implying that you had all the time in the world to help me, I just didn't want you to assume that I was able to fix my problem due to the fact that my previous message had a lot of words in it that may have suggested I did.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Asterisk CLI 'dahdi show

Asterisk CLI 'dahdi show channels' just change zaptel for DAHDI so the file would be dahdi-channels.conf

I am just unsure if internally the context is from-zaptel or from-dahdi you can check with the show dialplan command (again from the CLI).

Thanks for all the help

Thanks for all the help Scott.

I now understand that Zaptel has been renamed to DAHDI.

I'm just going to reinstall and upgrade to 2.8 and make sure everything is the way you said it should.

Thanks again =)
