I was surfing eBay for a 4-line card and came across this auction. Its eBay item number OpenVox A400P 4-FXO Port Telephony Card for 49.99. I was wondering will that card work for trixbox and is it a good price? Im new to this stuff and I want to make sure it will work. I called the number at the auction and talked to the person for a few minutes and they said it would work and that itll ship the same day the auction ends as long as I pay. Im just wondering is this a good card and is it worth the price?
Will this card work for Trixbox, and is it a good price
Yeah, it's a good card at a screaming deal. Of course everyone knows about the deal now so the auction will be run up.
If you had posted and asked for opinions on the Openvox card and not disclosed the auction you may have picked up a great deal.
I killed the ebay # as this post smells of spam.... Perhaps I would be more optimistic if this wasn't a 1st post. the actual E-Bay listing number adds no value to the OP
Didn't think of that angle James....
How is it spam. I just wanted to know about the card and show the picture of it to others. The important part of having the auction number was for experts to beable to see the picture. Anyways is this card pretty much plug and play?
James thought you may be the seller of the item.
The drivers for that card are included with trixbox so it is as easy as any PSTN card. I have to wonder if you could not search "Openvox trixbox" in Google to find your answer how succesful you will be at setting up your own phone system.
There are two great tutorials for getting started in our wiki, suggest you review one of them.
Fellas,
That wasn't me I promise!
The products from any of our FACE partners work very well and have been tested with trixbox.
http://trixbox.org/partners/certified-solutions
On that note non "FACE" cards like Ours (http://rhinoequipment.com) and Digiums (http://digium.com their the ones who maintain Asterisk) are well tested and work perfectly fine if not better in some cases....
Is that OpenVOX is FACE Gold, while Digium (that made the card that OpenVOX and others directly copied...) isn't.
I know, it's a money thing... I'm just sayin'.
So you're saying that Digium designed the TDM400P card? Or was it a design from the zapata project that was made an open design for anyone to manufacture. Digium copied that design just like the other manufacturers that make them now. So if you are saying that OpenVox cards are a clone, then you must also admit that Digiums TDM400P are also clones...
I'm just sayin'
Also, OpenVox does help to fund this project by being a FACE partner which is true. But what if no one funded this project at all? Not sure why the negativity for a company that helps to financially support this project and community that you and I are part of.
That's interesting history is it not? I had read it before (have my Mark Spencer autographed copy hear on the shelf "to Skyking, may all your calls be full-duplex") too funny.
If you look at the requirements to run Asterisk, I can only laugh when someone asks if there quad-core 16GB monster machine is large enough to handle 10 phone calls. Asterisk and the ZAP/DAHDI stack are very frugal on resources.
We owe it to them huh??!.... Jim Dixon Duuuuuude, and Mark Spencer.... and of course to all the fine people in the asterisk forums!
The big difference between FACE certified providers and others is testing. We test all FACE hardware personally to make sure it works with all versions of trixbox. We also have direct contacts at the engineering departments of these companies so if a new problem is found we can resolve it quickly. May other companies also test their cards with trixbox. I know James at Rhino testes each BETA version of trixbox and gives me feedback if there is a problem with Rhino cards. But we only test FACE certified hardware and that's the only hardware we are sure works. This is one of the many ways we help the community make sure there are no problem during their installs.
