Hud 3.0 + Linked Servers

Our company is a new user of VOIP and we choose the Trixbox Pro CCE, with two linked servers (with geo-diversity).

We just had out cut-over on friday (no problems, thankfully) and now I'm working on fine-tuning some of our features and setup so I'll likely have a few questions posted around the forums here.

We were originally expecting that the HUD3 interface would be able to automatically recognize the linked server and pull in the contacts automatically. I know this was documented in the Knowledge base as a HUD3 feature, but then modified after the release of HUD 3.0 to say it would be in a later version. Do we currently know what future version this functionality will be in?

In the meantime I was trying to use "external contacts" to supplement this functionality. In many ways it works great.. I can add an external contact for the other trixbox, and it will show user status and other items. I can use the "mail", "chat" and "mobile number" fields. However... the user's extension shows up in "mobile number" and apparently mobile number is the only phone number option available. This is sortof confusing for our users, because they cannot seem to get around the issue that remote contacts you have to use the "call mobile" option. Of course when you actually want to call thier mobile, users are calling their desk phones. This, combined with the fact that it is difficult to go around and manually add the contacts to everyone's HUD. combined with a bug (which I still need to submit) where the external contacts will suddenly dissappear from the HUD interface makes this "workaround" less than ideal.

Does anyone have advice on using External contacts more efficiently... I noticed there is some intergration with outlook (once I set a mobile number in here couldn't get HUD to switch back to using the extension)?

Thanks,

John R.

Hi John, You are correct in

Hi John,

You are correct in that HUD Linked is not available just yet...it will be coming soon (most likely by the end of the year), but I have no specific ETA.

As far as making external contacts easier to manage for your team, perhaps it would be best to logically separate them within a different group in HUD (create a custom group). This way, at least your users will know which HUD employees they have full access to, and which are remote.

Thanks,

Update On This Feature?

I was perusing the boards in hopes of finding the answer to this exact feature, where extensions on one linked server would visually appear in the HUD of a user on another linked server. I see from Chris' post that this wasn't available and was likely coming by the end of the year, but with no specific ETA. I was just curious if there happened to be an update on this as to when that feature would be available?

Thank you,

Don

HUD 3.0 Linked will be

HUD 3.0 Linked will be available in trixbox Pro 5.0 which is likely not going to be available until somewhere in Q1 2010 (updated ETA). The product is built, and we are currently testing internally (it is running on our corporate servers already). We will be going into a limited beta within 60 days, and then once any bugs have been ironed out, we will be releasing GA to PBXtra first followed shortly by trixbox Pro.

Trixbox Pro 5.0

Any update on when we can expect to see Trixbox Pro 5.0? I want to deploy another site using linked servers but am holding off until the HUD 3 linked features are available.

5/12/2010 Linked HUD?? Been a year now...

We've been waiting for this feature (linked HUD), as well as call accounting...

Any chance we could get an actual delivery date for this? We are up for renewal, and not feeling great about the lack of these options.

Ditto on the Update!

I am still catching flack from senior management, because they got the impression from the original sales demo that this feature was available. I really like the trixbox system, and I've fought off switching VOIP systems twice now, but the floating delivery date is not helping my case.

We are rolling out version 5

We are rolling out version 5 to PBXtra customers RIGHT NOW (version 5 has HUD Linked). This means that trixbox Pro is following shortly...I would guess another month or so.

Thanks,

Update on Trixbox 5 Availability

Chris,

It's been two months since your post and I have not seen any update on the availability of TRixbox 5 Update with the Linked HUD.

nearly there...

They rolled out to PBXtra customers but the attempt to roll out to Trixbox Pro resulted in some issues. They are currently working on resolving these before continuing the roll out.

A little birdy told me 3 to 4 weeks.

Linked HUD update

We have 7 x Linked servers around Australia and have been waiting over a year for the Linked Server contacts to display in the HUD panel.

I would appreciate the latest guestimate to this being available ?
