Our company is a new user of VOIP and we choose the Trixbox Pro CCE, with two linked servers (with geo-diversity).
We just had out cut-over on friday (no problems, thankfully) and now I'm working on fine-tuning some of our features and setup so I'll likely have a few questions posted around the forums here.
We were originally expecting that the HUD3 interface would be able to automatically recognize the linked server and pull in the contacts automatically. I know this was documented in the Knowledge base as a HUD3 feature, but then modified after the release of HUD 3.0 to say it would be in a later version. Do we currently know what future version this functionality will be in?
In the meantime I was trying to use "external contacts" to supplement this functionality. In many ways it works great.. I can add an external contact for the other trixbox, and it will show user status and other items. I can use the "mail", "chat" and "mobile number" fields. However... the user's extension shows up in "mobile number" and apparently mobile number is the only phone number option available. This is sortof confusing for our users, because they cannot seem to get around the issue that remote contacts you have to use the "call mobile" option. Of course when you actually want to call thier mobile, users are calling their desk phones. This, combined with the fact that it is difficult to go around and manually add the contacts to everyone's HUD. combined with a bug (which I still need to submit) where the external contacts will suddenly dissappear from the HUD interface makes this "workaround" less than ideal.
Does anyone have advice on using External contacts more efficiently... I noticed there is some intergration with outlook (once I set a mobile number in here couldn't get HUD to switch back to using the extension)?
Thanks,
John R.
