HUD Pro did not download

I did a fresh install of our server yesterday as I wanted to try a RAID 1 setup. After going through the installation it just hung at "installing HUD server" for over 40 minutes. So I restarted the server by ctrl+alt+del and it rebooted as it normally would. But now the phones would not connect and the HUD was down. I managed to get the support guys to bring up the phones but we never covered the HUD issue. Now I am ready to tackle the HUD so I need to know if it did install and if it is possible to reinstall it if there is a problem.

Any help will be much appreciated as I would love to solve this myself.

Gasmanz, Can you please

Gasmanz,

Can you please specify which server you are having this trouble on? Of the two servers I can find based on your name, only one is on and HUD appears to be installed. It was not running however, but sending a restart signal to the monitoring package caused it to start back up.

Can you see if you are having any troubles now?

Thanks,

Ben

2 servers

Hi Ben,

Yes we are trying to get a new server up and running at the moment as we wanted to use RAID 1 to have some backup. I have connected our original server again in the mean time as the calls were not getting answered. We did a reinstall on our original server too because it was getting some errors that seemed odd. So now I have the original server up and running with calls being handled as we want at the moment but the HUD server does not seem to be running now. Can you please tell me what is required to restart the HUD server as I would like to be able to do this myself if I have any customers that are experiencing the same issues.

Thanks,
Graham

Graham, In

Graham,

In /usr/local/fonality/hud, you should find a binary named either 'saxirc' or 'hudlite-server' depending on which version of HUD server you have (and what release of trixbox Pro). Either of these take just one argument, the HUD server password. This is contained in the file auth.cfg in the same directory.

Now, normally the monitoring software (astwatch.pl, in /var/adm/bin) should take care to start up HUD server should it not be running. Astwatch logs to /var/log/astwatch.log. In this file, you should be able to find any messages indicating why HUD server is not loading, or if for instance it is timing out during launch.

If you want to launch HUD server manually, you can do:
# /usr/local/fonality/hud/[saxirc/hudlite-server] `cat /usr/local/fonality/hud/auth.cfg`

I'd like to stress however that with astwatch running, none of this should be necessary. I believe the reason you had troubles was HUD server hadn't completed installing when it first attempted to start it up. This is evidenced by the time stamp on the auth.cfg file, as well as the time stamps in astwatch.log.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ben

Server working now

Hi Ben,

The server came back up (without going through the steps you gave) but it would not accept the username and password for the existing extentions. I had to go back into the CP and edit the web username's password and then I had to change it in the HUD client and then it all worked. Very strange. If I have to do a recovery for a large customer then I don't want to have to go through all the the passwords to get it running. I should work just with the current setup I thought.

Cheers,

HUD users not working?

This sounds like when you reactivated the system during activation and the initial sync your server did not get all configuration files, possibly due to network connection troubles during the sync. If the HUD users file is not on the system, HUD won't allow their accounts to connect. This would explain why when you changed the users HUD password it was able to connect, because when this happened the users file was copied up to your system.

If you let me know what server you were (or still are) having this trouble on, I can connect to it and take a look at things.

Cheers,

Ben
