Voicemail Blast and High Availability Questions
Hello everyone,
We are contemplating purchasing a Trixbox appliance, but I need a few questions answered first. We are ready to purchase now, so getting these questions answered quickly is important!
1) Does Trixbox have the ability to allow us to resell service on our single appliance to multiple customers with individual customized co-branding? Which version of Trixbox would we need to purchase? (Pro, Enterprise, Call Center?)
2) Is there the capability to allow those customers to create their own voicemail blast groups? If so, is there the capability to import a contact list? How is the list updated?
3) If we purchase two Trixbox appliances, is there any built-in high availability capability for automatic failover or load-balancing?
Thanks!
Matt
1. You can use Pro as a hosted solution and resell extensions, but you can not do individual customized co-branding.
2. Only the administrator of the trixbox Pro server can setup Groups for group voicemails. This can be done on Enterprise and Call Center Edition.
3. Here is info on Fonality's Live Backup Server.

There is much more to being a service provider than simply placing a box on the net.
If you are on the states, privacy, CALEA and e911 requirements all have to be satisfied.
Billing requires the proper collection and distribution of taxes.
Providing telecom services requires a significant investment in money and time.
I am aware of all of those. We are not offering service to the public anyway, it's an internal thing.
mevans336 your first question....
"Does Trixbox have the ability to allow us to resell service on our single appliance to multiple customers with individual customized co-branding?"
That says that IT IS NOT an internal thing, if you sell / give away services what Scott stated still applies.
The people don't have to have external calling access guys. You can have a PBX that doesn't connect to the PSTN.
You can have a PBX that doesn't connect to the PSTN.
That does not make much sense, the blast groups have to call somewhere. Maybe I am just not understanding your application.
Anyway, Pro is the wrong solution for this. You can start with CE and then customize it to suit your needs including any portals you may want to design to allow customers to edit their blast groups.
This is as close to an off the shelf solution as you are going to get.
Just remember not to expose the web interface directly you should either use a proxy such as squid for the customer facing web pages or run the web server on another machine.
My company provides hosted Asterisk based solutions from our tier 1 data center. If you would like this application setup and managed for you send me a PM to discuss the details.
