Remote Polycom 550's not registering
I have two Polycom 550's that work fine when on the internal network, but can only call out when placed on the external network. The server is statically NAT'd from the external IP to the internal IP, with all necessary ports open. The phones on the internal network work as expected, (extension to extension, outbound, inbound, etc...), when the phones are reconfigured (sNNNNNNx.trixbox.fonality.com) and moved outside the network they call only dial to other extensions. Calls made to the remote phones extension give "extension unavailable" voice prompts. Checking the log files I see no registration attempts to these servers.
Are there any ports I need to open on the remote location's firewalls? (or any another suggestions would be greatly appreciated..)
Thanks,
Ryan
Hey Ryan,
There are a number of ports that you may need to open depending on your network configuration. Please take a look at the following wiki for more information:
http://help.trixbox.com/index.php/Setting_Up_Remote_Phones
Thanks,
Mike
make entries in the sip_nat.conf as follows
enternhost =whatever.dyndns.org or
enternip = 555.555.5.555
localnet = 555.555.5.0/255.255.255.0
nat = yes
Open up RTP port 10000-20000
SIp ports 5004-5082 or just 5060
and if you are having issues with dialtone buttons you will want to check with your codecs that they are properly set.
All depends in the version of asterisk you are using
cheers
EDIT: I posted before I saw awoof post. Thanks awoof, I'll give that a try.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply. I've read the wiki entry quite a few times, and have opened all the ports described going to the trixbox pro server. However, I don't see any documentation on what ports to open on the remote phones firewall.
Going to the Trixbox server these ports are open:
SIP = UDP/5060
Polycom = UDP/10000 - UDP/20000
On the remote phone's firewall I have:
TCP/UDP 5060 open.
Regards,
Ryan
if you are still having problems then you need to open the ports on the remote site.
IP MAP
Port forwarding
192.168.0.56 PORT 5060 UDP
192.168.0.56 PORT 5060 TCP
ARE YOU USING FTP TO DELIVER THE FIRMWARE? MOST RELIABLE AND PREFERRED METHOD
ALL DEPENDS ON THE ROUTER ON THE REMOTE SITE.
IAX2 phones don't have any of these issues, when your in your office on the same network as the server the Polycom's work great. The issue is NAT and SIP, if your server is on public space not a firewall or NAT you won't have this problem, the issue occurs when the server is behind NAT and your Phone is behind NAT it is a Moving Target, I got rid of this problem by buying IAX2 Protocol Phones for remote sites problem solved!!!!!!
go to this Website buy one of these IAX2 phones and your problems will go away! http://www.thevoipwiz.com
Nice SPAM job.
